My kids just came in from playing in the snow to warm grilled cheese and tomato soup. Campbells Tomato soup out of a can. It got me wondering. When you make your condensed tomato soup do you use water or milk or a combination of the 2? I normally use half water and half milk, but today I used all milk.
How do you like your tomato soup made? Do you add anything extra?

I love tomato soup as well as tomato juice. I add some tabasco sauce to my tomato juice for a great kick in the mornings. Tasty.

When I make my tomato soup from a can I will also add half water and half milk it makes the soup a little thicker to me.

If it is a cream soup I might add half milk and half water. Now that you mentioned it last time I made tomato soup I did not use milk and I should have. That is what my mom always did and it tasted better that way. Next time I make it I will use milk instead. I don't really add anything in to it because I usually serve it with a warm sandwich that can be dunked in to it like grilled cheese. It is almost lunch time and you have made me very hungery now.

I like to use milk because it just makes it so nice and creamy! But I have used water or even a combination of the two like you said. It kinda depends on what I have available.

My mother was frugal so I grew up making tomato soup with water. However, when I married my husband insisted on it being made with milk. Now, like you, I use half of each. My theory is that we usually use what we grew up with.
