Here's your human interest story for the day: Maybe this is a sign for me. I just got my blackberry 8520 in the beginning of November and I already feel lost without it; having lost it about.. 3 hours ago. I feel so unorganized; EVERYTHING was in there. All of my numbers, my alarm clock, my pictures, videos, texts, and so on.. EVERYTHING! And I was devastated, but I know it's gone for good. I feel lost and I feel like I don't have a sense of time. My discussions and responses don't make sense today. I'm lost! Maybe this is an example of how dependant people become on cell phones & technology. But I hate to consider myself an example.
I lost it while volunteering (I'll save the story for a different discussion..) and I just went ahead and suspended it and ordered a new one, but the price tag on it.. is still hurting me to think about. .
Anyway, to turn this incoherent mess into an actual discussion, I'd like to hear your experiences. Have you ever totally lost your phone? About how long did you wait to suspend it?

Sorry to hear about your phone. It seems like it was just days ago, when you started discussions about applications for your blackberry. Funny how we become so dependent on these gadgets, that you are rendered helpless when you lose it.
I have never lost my phone. I actually have two. One company phone, and one personal which I always have in my pocket. I don't care so much for the company phone, but I have a nasty habit of feeling the phone in my pocket every minute or so. Thus I have never lost it.

Funny isn't it? I felt the same, I have to put my cellphone in my pocket, and afraid to lose it at any moment. I don't really store that much data in my phone though, only phone number. So, whether I lose it or not. It won't mean much to me. I only request a new one.

I never lost my cellphone before, and I keep them close to me well. Nonetheless, you only lost a cellphone today. I lost $500 today due to the car accident I had this morning. Because I have $500 deductible on my insurance, I have to pay for the cost myself now. The side mirror was totally rip - off, and the flat tire too. I was ripped.

Sorry to hear about your phone. A few years ago when I was hype about getting new phones and loving technology, I wanted a new phone for my birthday. My parents refused to get me one as they thought I would lose it. Me being a young nieve boy, I wanted a phone by any means necessary. I begged and begged and finally got a yes. It was my birthday and my parents thought to surprise me with a Sony Ericsson W8900. That same day I went out with my friends and lost my phone on the bus. It was so ironic and now that I think about it, it was funny. Now I know to listen to my parents.

A year after and I still agree with the coherence bit. Lost my phone today. Might also lose my head.

I've been known to used my cell for everything too, my alarm, schedule, as you said EVERYTHING. I definitely understand what you mean by feeling out of it. I not only depend on it to alert me of things I need to do and such, but also as a security blanket - having things organize that way makes me feel more confident I'll be on time for things and stuff.
I've never lost lost, like completely, gone from me forever lost. But misplacing a phone has gotten me emotional.
