are you a werewolf?

what happens to you around the time of the full moon - do you do most of your manic crime sprees then? howl? turn into a wolf? or simply feel a little restless with a strange desire to steal your neighbours' chickens for impromptu snacks?
it is a common belief that crime and erm lunacy is related to lunar cycles, and there is some (rather inconclusive) evidence that this may indeed be the case. the phases of the moon are certainly related to some things (tides for examples, and every female reader will know another one) - so do you think some people do become metephorical werewolves roughly once a month or is it just moonshine?
here is a link, although it basically just says 'we don't know yet' : http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg17022964.600-blame-it-on-the-moonlight.html?full=true

I used to work as a cocktail waitress years ago and I can tell you that there is certainly something going on with the full moon. There was always weird behavior. So many more fights and beligerant people both male and female. I don't necessarily believe in the metephorical aspect however.

Hm, I turned into a woman with a "regular" cycle during the full moon. No joke. To regulate my periods, the dr. told me to always sleep with the shades up when the moon was out, especially a full moon. And it worked! He explained that a woman's body has a lot more water content than a males, and just as the moon pulls on ocean water to regulate the tides, it was the same with a woman's body. And...it worked!!

the tides idea was dismissed by many scientists a long time ago. now though it is a consideration - especially actually seeing the moon. i have a consistant cycle of the usual 28 days which matches the lunar one. since it is happening right now i probably should go and shout at people.

I have phobia from werewolves. It's because of stories and movies I heard and watched. My grandmother used to talk me about werewolves. She's Romanian and they have lots of folk legends about mysterious creatures. And my some of them sometimes respond to real facts.
Werewolves do not exist, actually. Well, not with the image we know. There are many people feeling different when the moon is full. Me too :) I mean, sometimes I feel streams of power coming in my body and mind. And I can't sleep. But I don't thing I'm a werewolf :) Maybe it's all because these movies and stories from my childhood. They are always associated with the full moon.
But, I love werewolves at all! One of my favorite folk creatures. The stories of this kind of mystics are dating until more than 1000 years here at the Balkans.

hey thanks - my bulgarian vocabulary has now expanded by 25%
very interesting how you feel at the full moon - yes it could be related to what you heard and watched during your childhood. this is why the evidence the moon has effects on people is so inconclusive - a lot of things happen or are noticed because of expectations.

Personally, I don't believe the moon (or the stars) have any bearing on a person's behaviour - but . . .
At a children's weekly club where I was a leader, the head leader had very definite beliefs that the moon affected the behaviour of the children. I have to admit that the worst-behaved children were certainly much more so at time of the full moon. The question though, is were they that way because they knew he expected them to be?
I've also had nurses say that they experience problems at the full moon, especially in the aged care and mental health units. Once again, is it because it is expected?
I'm still open on the subject, but I have never noticed a difference in myself or anyone in my family - or in other children's groups.

it is very hard to tell whether the moon is responsible for this or if it is a self fulfilling prophecy. we are, or have been, affected by the moon in some ways so i think there is probably something in it and i am interested in what scientists eventually decide. at the moment as i said at the start the consensus seems to be 'we don't know'.

Well being a fishy lover as you are did you know they don't come up to bite on a full moon, so it leads to a few miserable fishermen as there is no point at all taking the boats out on a full moon.
(As it's no longer Thursday should I respond to myself now, or wait for your next appearance.)

Hello, Judith. Well, I have lupus, which is also known as 'the wolf disease' as you get a rash across the nose and cheeks which gives your face the appearance of a wolf. However, as I don't have hairs growing on the backs of my hands, I'm perhaps only a half breed. Does that make me a wewol, do you think?

"every female reader will know another one"
Yep, it is not just the female readers that know it. I am guessing that all of us married men are pretty familiar with it too..lLOL
I had never linked the words Lunatic and Lunacy to Lunar before. It all makes sense now!
