Some children like to listen to story when they go to bed. My friend prefer to tell story to his child. Yesterday he choose a story and read it to his son: A mother took two bowls of noodle, there was an egg on one of them. The boy choose the noodle with egg. His mother ate the other bowl of noodle. At lase he find that the egg was coverd at the bottom of bowl. The next day his mother still took two bowls of noodle. There was not egg on one bowl. The boy had experience and choose the bowl without egg. However in the end, he did not find an egg. The boy confused, his mother told him,'The person who want to gain extra advantage by unfair means may get nothing.' The third day, his mother took the same bowl without an egg on top of it. This time the boy let his mother choose at first. They both had eggs on the bottom. His mother told him, sometimes life is fair. After finishing the story my friend ask his son what you will do. Unexpected, his son said,'I will put them in a big dish, mix them, then it is fair.' I do not think his son can give this answer. We need fair in life, is it fair?

I think your friend should ask his son more clearly which scenario does he want to choose. What will he do is a too vague question so naturally the children would think something outside of the picture.
