It's just work and home and outings before. now we also have computers where most of our time are spent. my kids sometimes wants to stay at home and play facebook instead of going out with us. which was not the case before.. but i limit them to an hour per person only and during weekends only.
how about you.. what's your opinion?

Life changes, time changes. you cannot have everything the same everyday. Now wouldn't that be boring? Long long time ago, there was no TV. then, everyone used to sit in the drawing room and discuss the day's event, read a book, play a game etc. Then cam TV and everyone sat watching the 'idiot box' and talk became less. Now the computer is here and the talk is even less. But think of all the friends and relatives long lost we have been able to get in touch with because of this wonder gadget. Don't you think we are now more in contact with our children and friends who are far away because of technology? We can always find out if a family member has reached their destination safely or why your child has still not come home by calling her on her mobile phone or have your new grandson's photo posted to you by e-mail the moment he's born. The main thing is to make the best use of new technology and not let technology take over your life. You're correct in limiting the time your kids spend on the computer. Teach them the correct values when they are young and you too will be able to balance your life accordingly. Why don't you too join facebook and interact with your friends? I'm sure your kids too would respect you more if you were to join them in their persuits.

hello to you!no wonder you're the best mom it's because you know how to set limitation for your kids because i know of some who find it hard to control their kids in terms of their wants so I salute you for being a disciplinarian.I do agree with you that no matter how great technology had brought us it also cause some trouble specially for the young ones.We should always be in control of the technology and not the other way around. We should spend quality time with our family to see if everyone are doing good.We should reserve time for picnics, watching movies, going to beach and having adventure together in order for us bond and get closer.Godbless you and your family always.

You are good in training your kids. Giving them limitations is a form of discipline that will make them responsible in the future. I agree with you, this present times, many families are not able to spend moments together because of many activities that inhibit them from being with their family.
Technology has also bad effects with regard to relationships in the family. The spent time for the family and being sensible enough to give priority first for the family disappears.
Some people nowadays, Cannot afford without computers, cellphones, gadgets for them but CAN afford to loose time for their family. Same as the fact that, some kids / people nowadays can spend time with their gadgets for almost 24 hours giving no limits for what they are doing, but when it comes to families, even not whole day, they are bored already spending time and staying for that matter.
Life is complicated now because many are into technology activities rather than basic needs for life.

Hi thebestmom,
I am the one who claimed by my husband that "internet addicted"! Well, he is right to a certain extent. It has been like that since end of Sept 2009. Though we have computers at home and at work for years, but I only play games in the facebook starting end of Sept 2009, as I was invited by my brother-in-law several times. I have a yahoo blog, too, for over a year. Before I started playing facebook games, I was taking care of the blog daily, but now I only work there twice a week, due to time allocation! LOL I have been a myLot friend for some weeks, so my time with computer is even longer. However, I would not stay at home if we have family gatherings or during weekends. My daughter like to chat with her international schoolmates on facebook, too, but she only spent an hour or two there during holidays. She is quite discipline on that. She prefers going out with her friends rather than chatting on the network. Luckily she likes to go out with me, too.
Have a good day!
