Hi munchiez117, so pleased you reside in U.S.A, I'm a Chinese, I think I know American more than you know China.
The first sense about U.S.A, I will regard her as a wealthy and powerful country, the people living there have a qualified life, they have enough money to support them to travel all over the world. And U.S.A has powerful military system, assigned troops to several areas and protect American well.
In the next I tried to find some readings about U.S.A history, and realized this is a great country, there are democracy, equality and freedom, has thought to throw over bad government, and tried best to keep fair, free publication, private property and so on. And on this soil, a lot of cultural or scientific flowers bloomed, like Hollywood movies, computers, Mars navigate plans etc.
But nowadays there are a lot of terrorist who against U.S.A, what on earth they hate American, just American troops occupied Afghanistan, it make me confused, expect you give me some ideas.

Hi munchiez117, the bad things American has done obviously don't go into the readings and materials which bring bright stories about American history, therefore I am wondering you or other Americans can give us more.
In another words, every nation has bad spots in his history, most importantly we should regard the behaviors after that mistakes, for instance I admire German more than Japan, because Japanese insists to deny somethings.
