So who else is tired of snow already?

Snow is lovely . . . to look at, to photograph, for kids to play in.
But I'm old and disabled and even four inches of snow is too much for me. I've not been out of the house in 36 hours and it looks like there is little hope for going out later today.
What do you do when it snows? Love it? Hate it? take a trip to someplace warm? [that would be hard right now, as the whole country is cold!
So tell us about a snowy week where you are.

I agree with all that you've said. I have a close relative in the same position as you, and with the snow that we have now it's difficult for us to even get to them. It must be hard for you to have to stay in all the time that there's snow on the ground. I'm lucky that I can go out in it, at least very locally, and of course my 3-year old loves it, but the dangers and inconveniences it causes far outweigh the fun and pretty plus-points!

Oh, I don't begrudge folks enjoying snow. I just get a little weary of it when it goes on and on for days on end. It has been over a week and there are still streets that aren't cleared. It has been too cold for it to melt. But spring IS coming.

Don't blame you. It's not melting in a hurry hear either.
I love what you said about spring coming! Made me smile. Hopefully before too long...

It is hard for me to imagine never having seen snow, except in photos. You know, it is hard to imagine what not having experienced than it is to imagine what has. That's pretty tangled. What I mean is one can imagine more easily imagine having something than not having it if you've never experienced it.
I can imagine what it would be like to lose something I've had. But if I've never had something it is harder to imagine having it.
Anyway, thanks for your response. Strong roofs are necessary to hold up under the weight of snow and ice.
Where would you have to travel to to meet snow?

I don't mind the snow this time of year. I've lived here pretty much all my life,so snow is a given. When I don't like it is about mid-march when it all looks dirty and gray. The remnants of the snowbanks that have piled up for the past couple of months are still melting and running into driveways turning them into quagmires that end up as footprints through my mud room..and having to wipe the dogs feet everytime he comes in.

I live on a busy city street and the snow gets dirty very quickly, even with this much snow. The salt trucks spew it up over the curbs. Yuk.
Hope you can avoid the quagmires this year.

I love snow. However, just like they say, too much of everything is not good. It does not have snow though where I am living. That is the reason I'm not yet tired of it.

Yea, a little hard to be tired of something you don't have. But sometimes we long for what we don't have and then we get too much of it!

I really don't want any more snow, it is a big headache for me, I am located in china, there has been a serious snowstorm for more than one week, my workplace is very far away from my home, I have to get up at 6 in the morning, then drive very very carefully, spend two hours on the way, and there are always some crazy drivers on the road, maybe they just like skiing on their cars, but all I need is to go back home safely and watch TV with my family in a cozy home.

I remember those terrible snowy drives to work and back and am glad I'm retired and don't have to do it anymore. There are a lot of crazy drivers out there.
Stay safe!

I'm definitely tired of snow. I've had to get to work on really bad roads for several days in a row now because no one will plow the roads and the snow just keeps on coming down and they won't close work even though we have a low percentage of children actually showing up. It's getting quite frustrating actually. I'm ready for spring!

Ugh. I'm glad I'm not commuting to work any more. That was really hard in this kind of weather. I used to commute quite a distance and when the weather was bad it would take hours to get their and back. Made for VERY long days.
One good think about being old enough to retire, even in spite of the disability, is that I don't have to go out if I don't want to!

I've never been to your part of the world. It all seems quite exotic to me. I doubt if I will ever be traveling that far, so appreciate hearing from you at such distance. I'm sure you will have many great memories from your time there. Treasure your youth. It disappears much too rapidly!

Yes, I am kind of getting tired of the snow. I really enjoy watching it fall from inside my apartment. However, I don't really enjoy having to walk in it. At this point of the year, I begin to get tired of the snow, and such. It's not as pleasant as when it first falls. However, I try to keep in mind that spring is approaching one day at a time.

ME for sure! But Im not too worried about it this year. There is usually a good January thaw and I'm counting the months, days and minutes until April when I head to sunny myrtle beach for a week!

Let's hope there is sunny weather for Myrtle Beach this coming April! And I'm hoping that January thaw is in the offing as well. Haven't seen it in the weather forecasts, though. Keep thinking spring. I wonder if ignoring snow and cold weather will make it go away?

Hi there,
I am with you , I litterally hate the snow and cold !
Not that I have any difficulties getting around in it - just can't stand it :(
I only go out when I have to and that is for work and to do groceries, and to visit my family. Last year - 2009, when the snow was really deep , and nonstop, my husband and I would dig out our cars, then drive over to my Mom's and help her shovel. She was very stubborn and stayed out and shoveled with us, even though we told her to take a break !
I can find many things to do inside, and most of those are on the computer - hey I even learned how to play poker !
It does keep one ocupied - I got my Mom hooked , and she loves it !

There really is lots to do inside, isn't there? I don't know if men have as many indoor occupations, though. I imagine they are more bored if they have to stay in.
I'm pretty stubborn like your mom. But I've had to give up on a lot of physical tasks, like shoveling and most yard work. There are so many things that I used to do that I can no longer do. But I try not to dwell on what I can't do and focus on what I can. Makes life more pleasant.
My best to you and your mom!

This week has been the first snowy week that we've had this winter. And cold, lordy is it cold where we are as well. I've been out of the house two times in the last two days. The first time I walked up the street with my son to pick up my daughter from her friend's house. That was really a great trip for me as well because I was able to truly make a new friend out of Michelle's mother. I've talked to her a few times, but never really had the opportunity to get to know her. Her daughter is six years older than my daughter, but they are drawn together for some reason. However, her son and my son are only five months apart in age and the two youngest children in the neighborhood so hopefully this is also the beginning of a great friendship for my son as well.
Then we went to the grocery store to get a few things that we needed. Other than that, I haven't been out of the house. As far as the rest of the winter goes, I'd like to see one more decent snow and then it can be spring.

Is it still snowy there? I'll bet the kids enjoy it. I've been sticking pretty close to home as there is still a lot of snow on the ground and many of the streets are still not cleared. It has been too cold for it to melt.
I think I've had quite enough snow already.

I've not been out at all this week because when I was at Mum's 100 miles away over Christmas I got a bit fed up of trying to sludge my way through it all the time. I didn't have to go anywhere back here so decided to stay in. We have had a water leak due to frozen pipes though which has been a traumatic experience but has now stopped because the boiler and radiators aren't on. We have water but it's cold. Brrr! Fortunately, the living room fire is working and I don't want to go to bed as it is so cold up there now. Hopefully, all this will be resolved tomorrow when people will be round to assess the situation...but I have started to loathe cold weather whereas before this happened I was a bit indifferent to it. Keep warm my friend.

Oh, dear. Frozen pipes are a mess! But what are you doing for warmth with no radiators or hot water? I remember sleeping in bedrooms with no heat. I had every blanket on the bed, including my coat over the top, and wore double layers to sleep in. The hardest part was crawling out of the covers in the morning!
I hope you are warm by now.

I can't imagine what it would be like to not see snow often in the winter. You live in a different world. I imagine there are things where you are that I have never or seldom seen. That is the magic of our lives.
Thanks for responding.

I know what you mean. I hate snow, and ice. It snowed here last night, and I hope that is all we will see this winter. I woke up this morning, and my hands are stiff from my arthritis. I have nothing to melt the ice because we normally don't have snow. I had a box of ice melter. I check the box this morning and the box only had a little bit. The weather forecaster states it will be Sunday before it gets above freezing.

I'm actually wishing we would get a little more snow here. So far there has been hardly any snow, except for in the high elevations of the mountains. Usually we have some snow on the ground over the holidays, but that wasn't the case this year. Oh well. I love watching snow fall and seeing it on the ground, plus our dog loves to play in it. But it's no fun to shovel and driving on it is definitely no fun. I hope the weather gets better for you soon. :)

Yes, the snow is getting a little tiring for me. It would not be as bad if some of it melted. It started with a few inches. Then it piled on a few days later. Then that snow pretty much stayed that way for a while. Then just the other day it dumped like about eight or nine more inches on top of that. And there appears to be more snow in the forecast for next week. I have not even seen the sun in weeks. I'm ready for warmer weather, so I can go outside without freezing. Right now, it looks to be a long way off.

Let's both think warm thoughts - sunshine, flowers, summer breeze.

The first big snow is always nice to look at but after that I'm ready for sunny days by the pool. We got pretty good amounts of snow in Chicago this week. Sun is out today thought but it's deceiving because it's COLD. At this point, I would even be happy with April type weather. 60's would keep me satisfied!!
