I know it's something that you should not give your dog for food, other than chocolates and grapes. Bones, especially the sharp ones that were left from that fried chicken you just had (not that big one in the picture which can impossibly be chewed and swallowed by that dog), can be abrasive to the dog's stomach and thus make him sick and probably kill him. We already had some puppies killed before by accidentally swallowing sharp bones.
Do you give your dogs bones to eat?

Some animal bones are proper for dogs to chew on. Pork shank bones that have been proper cured and cow femur bones are ok for dogs. You should always monitor your dog while they chew these and take it away from them if they can put the entire thing in their mouth. Dogs are kinda like small kids in this aspect they will attempt to swallow anything they can get into their mouth.

I will give my dog raw bones but no cooked ones. The cooked ones splinter, but the raw ones are safer for them to eat. I don't think I would give a puppy bones though, too hard on the digestive system.

Raw cow femur and knuckle bones are ok for a dog when the dog is grown up, but you should always monitor the dog while it is chewing on a bone, not only because of the splintering issue, but also because as the bone gets smaller it poses a chocking issue.

I own five adult doga and one puppy. I buy my dogs beef ribs to feed them as treats. None of my dogs have had any problems with them. We don't however give our dogs poultry or pork bones, vet recommends that we don't. I do however allow all of my dogs to have chocolate. Dogs can have chocolate as long as it isn't bakers chocolate. Most people don't realize that there is a difference. I didn't know it until my husband explained it to me. Our dogs range from in ages from 6 months to 14 years. All are healthy.

I laugh when I hear this, sorry. It's just that bones are a part of the canines natural diet. The nutrients they get from the bones helps to strengthen their own bones. Now I do not give my own small bones that can splinter and what not because it is messy but you better believe they love the ham bones and rib bones I give them. I also buy buffalo knuckles for them to chew on. As I have two chewers this keeps my furniture and the kids toys safe.

Oh sorry, I didn't know that. We give our dogs big bones for them to chew. My mom gives our adult dog some small ones that she can chew and swallow. Problem is sometimes she gets so voracious that she doesn't even chew them first.
It's crazy when they chew on house furniture and other things. My dog once chewed on a piece of earphone that we used.

Not anymore. We usually give bones to our dogs before. But with our new two dogs right now, my father told us not to give them of any kind. Raisin is not also good for dogs same as chololates and grapes. My dogs love chocolate, I gave small piece sometimes.
