Today, one most gruesome incident has left me shocked. A cop was attacked, knifed, the convoy of minister who happened to pass by stayed safe, photos are being shot, the whole incident was being filmed but no one, NO ONE came for help!! The immediate reaction should have been everything but this! Where is our courage, our humanity? Or are we too scared to help a dying man?

I would have helped him. I would have done everything I could to help him. I know CPR and First Aid and I have a First Aid kit in my car at all times in case of a bad situation. Shame on the people who did not help that man, wait until they too are in a similar situation. In my grief counselling group this last weekend. One of the members in my group thought that his car would be safe, left his brief case in the front of his car, and his car was broken into. The place where it happened was a church. The church was also ransacked as well. We stayed with him until about a half-hour after police arrived, two policemen and police dog were present, and they arrived pretty fast considering what time of the night it was. His car, he believed, was parked in a safe spot, but sadly, not safe enough. These are pretty dangerous times.

Hiya rogue, I would have helped too with my very scarce knowledge of first aid if I could have done even just to hold his hands I don´t know but something. I know that you must not move People who are in these conditions I would find myself wishing that I knew much more about how to help and not flap over the slightest thing.

Did you help the dying man? Anyway, it is the same everywhere. Why do people see others get picked on and do nothing? Why do people drive the streets watching people get beaten up but don't do a thing about it? There are tons of possible answers. What if that person deserved to get hit, because they raped his sister? What if they stopped a fight, that they would get killed also? People tend to keep to themselves and worry only about themselves, no one else.

@ mimpi : if u have done such thing then hats off to u ....today rarely people dare to do help any1 in such cases. one cannot blame them also coz the system has become so worse that he himself might face horrifying consequences on doin so. but rightly said by u, u need courage to help any1.

My heart was broken hearing the news.I just could not have the courage to watch the whole incident while it was telecasted.I never had any high opinions about this ministers and politicians and they keep proving their selfishness and cowardliness day in and day out. They really are pathetic. The most inhuman act to let a man die in front our eye while the dying man is crying for help.I do not understand why these ministers don't try to have the satisfaction of at least trying to help a dying man. I can't help remembering the shows in Discovery channel where a hippo is saving the deer from the teeth of a crocodile and nursing it and the lioness roaming around with a deer for more than a week tending it.People are trying to prove that they are beastlier than the wild animals that definitely seems to have the compassion, a word unknown to these so called politicians.

MUCH ADO ABOUT THIS NEWS, even if we had been there at the spot, the politicians and the people would have prevented us from doing any sort of help. Again and again i watched this clipping in the TV, as it happened in my state, but then i am rendered helpless and i am left with two choices: 1)To pray God to give strength and energy for the members of the family to overcome the situation. 2) To bury my head in shame as it occurs again and again, and continue to ponder why people are thirsty of blood.. Take care friend.

well if you were there I hope you stopped to help, if it was me I would stop and help whether a cop or anybody. In this day and age people don't help which is madness one day it might be you needing help and people walk past. So yeah I would always stop and help no matter who it was.

The reality that they are scared to help the dying man because of the reason, they do not want to involve themselves. And be let others screw their life because of the incident. Police, media and whoever might harassed them for news publications. Most importantly, their family will be at stake or risk too. But, inside of them, they somehow feel guilty by not helping that man. Maybe, they just prayed for his soul. We cannot blame others if they are selfish in helping for some reasons. Maybe there are instances they are aware that left bad thoughts when helping others in that kind of situation that ended up in that realization.

I saw this particular clipping as well on the new Mimpi and i was in a state of disbelief and anger. Here was the man crying and reaching out and all those people just watching. What does a minister and collector need to be scared about ? I think it's just thier inhumaness which prevented them from helping. Many a person on the road does this too as well. You can say they are scared. Scared of having to go through the various police questioning. But then at the price of watching another man die ? I wonder how thier concience allows it ? Sadly i think it's humanity which is declining.

This world scares me. It is terrifying to know people will stand around long enough to video tape a man being killed but will never step in to help the man themselves. The sad thing about the whole ordeal is the officer was probably sent there because he was going to HELP someone else. Yet he was left to face the attacker alone and no one came to his aid. It is a sad, sad world we live in today. I would hope if ever faced with such a situation I would have the nerve to do the right thing and assist the person being attacked.

Hiya luckraj, Yes People get scared and when they see other People go forward then sometimes others will try and do something as well. But being Human all of us there will be some that are too confused as to know what to do I think they want to help but they get stuck mentally and the will is there but it won´t work for them they feel helpless.

I agree with you, allow me to add a point to yours. To act as an individual everybody might have scared. But collectively the people aroud him could have helped. What was lacking there was is that nobody was there in the group to take the initiative. If somebody would have come forward then everybody would have helped without scare. Unity is the strength

I know..that's how we are.othing so gruesome...but just two days back I saw an autorikshaw driver attack a car driver. And the poor car driver (though hefty) was not retaliating and was instead pleading with passers by to help. The auto driver was drunk and pnching this poor man. Sadly, people just walked away (I was at on a higher floor not that I could have been able to help even if I was down there). No one called the police and did nothing.

Actually we are scared of the legal procedures involved after helping someone out on the road. The police give a lot of trouble once they come into the picture. People are scared that they will get involved with the police after helping someone and may have to go to the police station or the court as a witness if anything worse happens.

I think it's awful that nobody stopped to help the man. I could not have lived with myself if I had passed by that happening and not done anything. I know a lot of people would probably say they were afraid, but I still don't think that's an excuse. I think there are a lot of people who just won't get involved, but should. I feel like people should help their fellow citizens if they are able to, but that is just seeming to happen less and less.

Hi, mimpi. Now that is a crying shame! That minister could have helped this guy out. We have many brave people in this world and I am sure that someone would not be too afraid to help him out. Sometimes people are afraid of getting involved with someones attack or killing. I wished that someone could be brave enough to save this cop. What a shame!

Hi mimpi, that incident shocked me too. the ministers were so calloous talking away on their cell phones, apparently asking for help...I want to know why the media did not do something instead of standing around taking pictures. Are they not equally responsible...I too feel that the whole incident shows how thich skinned we have all become and utterly selfish ...

Hiya mimpi1911, Sorry to hear about that Policeman how terrible it is a violent world we live in. If I would have been there I would have tried my best to help even just by phoning an Ambulance comfort him anything. It´s really difficult to try to help someone of this status I think, but I would try my very best to find a Doctor or a Nurse usually there is always someone with medical knowledge around even if they don´t wear their white coats outside of the Hospital. Of course I would be scared too out of my wits something like this has never happened to me up to yet but I have got a Doctor to at least two other People that were ill in the Street. Also I was crying my eyes out but I still did it because I felt I could´nt leave them. I think some people can be genuinely scared and not react in time as to know what to do.

There are a lot of People now that are to scared to get involved, the only thing that makes me mad is that so many People have Mobile Phones why not ring the Police they do not have to get involved physically but it is not to much to call the Police out I can not believe someone was sick enough to film it or Photograph it

I cannot imagine walking on and not assisting anyone in such a dire situation let alone take my mobile phone out and the film the poor soul while he is dying!!! I heard about this on the radio this morning and I felt ashamed for all those who walked past or used the incident as entertainment. Is it fear? For some, perhaps... But others were not afraid to stand there and film! It is appalling and I hope it is not a sign of how the world will be in years to come, no compassion and every man to himself...That would be so very sad indeed...

I think no because. We should not scare to a dying man. That is part of a human to be die and gone. We are not here to live forever but to die when the time is come that set our dear God...

The whole things sucks! Who was attacked?? A cop. In Broad daylight. And no one came to his rescue. The scene is straight out of a Bollywood potboiler. I was shocked and just did not how to react after reading this gruesome incident. The Minister should not only be suspended but also jailed for failing to perform his duty. And what were these media people doing?? They were happily filming the whole incident to telecast on their Network and claim a "Breaking News". Even they are to blame.

I carry a first aid kit in my vehicle that has a mouthpiece and gloves in it.... I am all for protecting yourself in this day and age but what conscious do these passer byers actually have.... I could not go by a dying man.... Not to mention everyone has cell phones.... So did anyone call from a distance.
