My neighbor shoveled my sidewalk yesterday!

We had 4" of snow yesterday and it's headed towards another inch or two today. I was dreading the chore of shoveling the walk when I heard my neighbor fire up his snowblower. He told me to go back inside and get warm then proceeded to do his drive and walk, my walk, my other neighbor's then my neighbor's driveway! This brought back to mind how lucky I am to have such nice neighbors and how much good is in everyone's heart!
Has something good happened to you recently? With all the bad news out there, let's take today to share some of the good things in life and how people have shown kindness to us in the past few days.

I think you are very lucky to have such a good neighbor. I know from experience that ours would not, and in fact have not helped me with any snow. Even the year we had a foot in one night and I was 7 months pregnant, the neighbor told me I shouldn't be shoveling snow yet didn't stop to help. I only got half way through before taking a break (my back was killing me). I got side tracked and later tat day a police officer stopped by to tell me the same neighbor had complained that our sidewalk and drive way where a safety hazard. Seeing my condition the cop was nice enough to finish the job for me ( was very grateful). See he knew my husband (who does emergency response for the state and was out cleaning up accidents on the interstate) and understood my husband wasn't lazy just not there.

Your neighbor will reap what he sows. And what a nice cop to help you out! Police and Fire workers are wonderful people, they are so generous and truly want to help the public. If you really think, I'm sure you can come up with something a stranger has done for you recently--let you into traffic, smiled at you, etc.
Maybe you'll get a replacement for your neighbor one of these days. One can only hope!

Well I have to say not much has happened lately. It seems the Christmas spirit sucked the life out of people this year. I think there is just such a large number of those who are struggling ( 54%, according to our paper last week, of people in our area have lost their jobs) they just do not seem to notice others. That said I did see a woman stop and pick up a stray kitty the other day, that was nice to see.

In my opinion that was totally rude to tell you that you shouldn't be shoveling yet just walk away and not offer at least a little help.
I am glad I have really decent neighbors.
I myself have shoveled and blown snow for other neighbors.
Here's a shot of my drive on the Holiday after it snowed a few days non-stop. That was great of the officer to do it for you.

Great neighbor with a heart of gold. That's what I'm talking about. Love one another. God is very pleased with what your neighbor did. He has love in his heart for his fellow man. One giant step for God's Kind. You and your neighbors are blessed to have a neighbor like that. God bless all of you and have a life full of overflowing abundance and joy.

I hope you also have neighbors like mine. I have been a good neighbor as much as I could and when we all try to help each other, life is easier and more pleasant. I'm very blessed where I live!

Yes, you're right. Neighbors should stick together and help each other. See, you are a good neighbor so you have good neighbors and friends!
Don't overdo the strain on your back, though. I have a bad back due to scoliosis and arthritis and when I overdo it I'm down for days, I know how painful it is. Be careful!

That's so nice. ^-^
I have a neighbor that has a golf cart-sized snow plow cart, and whenever we get a lot of snow, he goes around the whole block moving the snow off the walkways. It's such a big help- shovelling snow by hand can be such a pain! w

Yes, it's a pain--literally! Your neighbor is a very generous person, very kind. Such people make the world a bearable place.

If i too had a snow blower i would most certainly offer to clear other peoples drives as opposed to watch them struggle with just a shovel. We have also had snow where i live and i woke up to find about i dozen people all working together to clear the street with shovels. We live on a hill that is quite steep you see, so cars often get stuck trying to get up. So when i saw them all, i too went out to help. Its great how situations like that bring people together :D

I also have a very nice and kind neighbor. This is a photo taken Christmas day actually. We had a big storm where it snowed for 3 days. This was thew day we got 8 inches of wet heavy sloppy snow and my little snowblower wouldn't clear it all so my neighbor did mine as a RAOK.

dragon54u nothing really spectacular just the ordinary small kindnesses that best friends do, like my friend Nelda who is going to pick me up and take me to the bank and rite aide today, these are really big kindnesses to me. My son when he comes always checks my computer and if there is any problem he trouble shoots it for me. this is fantastic as a repairman would cost me a bundle. then a big basket of goodies brought to me again by my friend Nelda with stuff for me to munch on between meals. lovely and so very kind.

I disagree, it truly is spectacular that you have people like that in your life! Many of us don't. It's those little thoughtful things that make our hearts warm and make life worth living!

It is nice when people show a selfless act of kindless. There have been times where the neighbor has come over to help to shovel the snow, without expecting anything in return. And despite that, the favor has been returned. In the world with so much doom and gloom, its always nice for some positive news. Selfless acts are few and far between, unfortunately and when they happen, its just a nice feeling.

I think if we make a bigger effort to be kind to people, they will usually do the same. If only half of them do, we can make a real difference. I'm glad you have a good neighbor! It certainly brightens our lives when things like this happen to us or we hear about them happening to others.

Good neighbors add to our happiness. If there is anyone of bad nature as our neighbor the happiness get spoiled. As you have good neighbor, my family has also got few good neighbors. They help us in many ways. We live like a big family. To get along the people I follow the principle that if you are good, the world is good and if you are bad, the whole world is bad.

You are right when you say we live like a big family--that is how it is in your area and that's how the whole world should be, because we are all family. I hope we can extend that feeling beyond our own neighborhoods!
