My Three year old son is very active... walks, runs and plays so much... I have tried giving him special milk like apeton for kids (gain weight milk) however he is still thin (BUT NOT SKINNY). He is in the normal weight range but I want him a little chubby... Not fat and obese but with some extra fats and flesh....
Eating is not a problem. He is eating okay. I want him to gain little weight. My son is cute but I think he will look cuter if he is a bit chubby...
Any suggestions, please?

Sweatie, leave him be. As long as he is healthy and active, you have nothing to worry about. Most boys have this 'problem'. They will normally gain weight as they grow a bit older. If you are worried about him, take him to the docter, but really there is nothing to worry about. As they say, boys will be boys.

saphrina, maybe you are correct... there will come a time that boys will gain weight naturally without doing any additional effort... I am not actually worried... like I said he is healthy... it is more on a desire of making him A BIT chubby...

Well, he looks healthy on his age. Being chubby is somehow cute but somehow unhealthy.
But if you really wanna make him chubby the healthy way, you must manage his time especially when it comes to sleeping, little kids like yours needs 8-10 hours of sleep to gain enough energy for the next day. As for the food intake, if you really like him to look chubby in a healthy way (but not obese), you could go try this food intake method:

If he is within the normal weight range and healthy then you shouldn't mess with that because you want to see him cosmetically looking pudgy. If you force more food on him it could turn into an eating disorder disaster when he grows up. Cease and desist on your wish to pudge him up. It is unhealthy.

lynkshadow I am not making him over eat or something... The food that I am giving him are healthy and nutritious. I am not only after him making look chubby... I want him to gain little weight in a healthy way... Like I said, if you read my discussion, I DONT WANT HIM FAT OR OBESE... That is not healthy and doesn't look good at all...

Chubby cheeks always not the sign of a healthy or weight full body. Most parents do concerned about the looks, health and height of their lovely kids. The growth of a child depends on different factors such as good sleep, more play, laughing/joking with parents and of course eating little but nutritious food. It also important that child should drink milk and water more than average.

As long as he's healthy don't worry about him. It is much better if he is not chubby. He will not look any cuter and you could be starting him on a life time of problems with his weight. Just love his thin body and know there are millions of people out there that are very jealous and wish they had that problem.

Hello ldqiang! Welcome to mylot! Eating rice, vegetables and meat is not a problem to him.... May be he is just too active that is why he burns all the food he eats that fast...

Some children are just thinner than others. You really shouldn't be trying to force the child to gain wait. He might end up thinking its okay to be chubby even though there are hundreds of health risks that come with being over weight. If he's healthy and happy then let it go. Its better that he is thin and healthy than being over weight because his parent thinks he'd be more cute.

I don't want him fat or over weight Lostinloveanddancing ... I just want him to have some extra flesh... Not that chubby... I am aware that being over weight and fat is not healthy at all... there are risk involved... and it is hard to burn such big fats when he gets older...

My 2.5 year old is on the VERY low end of weight for his age and height. We have to give him Pediasure or something similar to what you mention when he's not eating well. It gives him an extra 250 calories. We get the chocolate kind and tell him it's chocolate milk and he loves it. You can also try to make sure he gets something he really loves and eats well at least once a day. My son hasn't put on tons of weight, but he is a "non-eater" - not even a picky eater - he just refuses most food. If your son is in the normal weight range you shouldn't worry - our doctor told us that even our "non-eater" will eat when his body tells him he needs it to grow.

I gave him pediasure too last year but didn't notice much change so I stop it and shifted to a normal milk for his age... He loves the chocolate flavor too. He is not a picky eater... he eats all that I give him... but sometimes moody like other kids... There are times that he eats less... and slow...
Thanks hansonmama! Pediasure is a good milk...
