I got a great amount of responses about eating ice cream in cold weather. The most responses of any discussion I have started so far. I started on this site three years ago, and honestly I was looking for more in depth and thought provoking exchanges. So when I read some of the topics of conversation that people post I was a little disappointed and kind of lost interest. It was the commitment I made to myself to follow through on my desire to earn money online that brought me back to this site. I thought for sure that people would want to tell me about thier life stories when I asked if there were any bi-racial or multi-racial people on mylot, almost no response. I thought that people would chime in from all corners of the mylot globe when I asked who had great time saving tips in the kitchen, I mean there are more moms on here than I see anywhere, but I got nothin!. NO offense to all of you who did respond to my previous posts, I appreciate your enthusiasm and involvement. YOu all have great things to say. But ice cream?! That's the hot topic?! So I want to know which discussions of yours got the most responses and which ones were a total flop?

Hi Tawny, I responded to a least one ice cream comment in the last couple of days, though I'm not sure if it was yours. Its funny, but in many cases your right. I have had a few discussions that I thought were clever or thought provoking that I posted and no one even touched, or I got maybe one response. Then there are others I have posted that have gotten as much as 20+ responses. I have two that have that many, but they also did not neccessarily all come on the first day I posted them. So you never know what might strike a cord with Mylot members at any given time. You just keep posting things you find interesting and keep responding to things you are interested in.

Maybe because some people have learn hard way to stay ways from provoking discussions. Too many people are waiting for fight. I stay away from political, racial, religious and homosexual discussion.

I have nothing to hide. The Secret??? 1. Respond, respond, respond, respond, respond....before you start next discussion...giving is receiving... 2. Keep your standards high, no violation to the guidelines. 3. Don't start rubbish discussions and avoid to respond to meaningless posts (unless they are funny) 4. Don't hide behind green Avatar 5. Be friendly and make Friends (not referrals for other sites). 6. Respond to best friends discussions first, after all what friends are for? I am sure most of my friends will agree with this.

...Hi tawny, Hope all is going well. There is no way to predict what discussions will draw the most attention, where many people response. It's what they feel they have an interest in talking about. I had a lot of people respond to "office romance" and "outer space vs underwater exploration", not so many to "what two presidents helped the US the most". In fact only one if I remember correctly, easy one for the BR. :o) So if the subject matter sparks their interest, they start responding. Ice cream in the cold weather made them think of an incident or they just wanted to talk about it. I think it's cute. Don't despair over the number of responses, I had seen your discussions have guite an interest level. Keep up the good work. Take it easy.

I liked the underwater vs outerspace discussion. That one was right up my alley. you would really think it was funny if you saw my myspace page!

Haha! Hi tawny. Sometimes you just never know. I once started a discussion about formulating decisions, and how people arrive at certain choices. I wanted to pick other people's brain. But, unfortunately, I got zero responses for that one. My most successful discussion was about the gift bags. I had like 56 responses! So, I guess it's just the flavor of the times. You never know until you put it out there.

i am an ice cream love for life that i think is for sure. but i cannot understand what is really that thing you wanted to point out here? you seemed to posed multi issues, which in a way confuses your ready which to answer first. but if you ask me about ice cream, I EVEN EAT ONE EVEN WHEN IT IS FREEZING COLD! that's how i love that sweet temptation. and the flavors, we have a variant here. any, name it we have it. we are creative by the way in terms of food we eat!

Tawny, I do not even know which discussions of mine got the most response. I have been here too long now. I think forty to fifty responses is plenty. I am actually happy with twenty responses. I think the more active you are on the site the more you get in the way of responses. Your more indepth discussions would be the ones I would answer. I cannot honestly tell you much about ice cream.

Hi there tawny_24! You must be so proud of such achievement. I haven't seen many discussions here with much responses. But I am not totally surprised that there are discussions here that really catch the attention of readers. While ice cream topics are quite common (like I also have posted a couple of these), not all are written well. Not all are that interesting. Perhaps, your composition is very interesting. I can't recall which of my topics got some three digits. I think I have one or two topics that I can consider a flop. Not a total flop though. Good luck to you and may you have more responses!

Hey tawny! I responded to your "ice cream" discussion, but that isn't the kind of discussion that I would normally respond to! There just was some things in it that I wanted to respond to! I much prefer deeper and more thought provoked discussions! I am a good friend of the "Lambs" so take it from there! If I would have seen your "old discussions" as you described I would have gladly participated! But, I have only been here for the last year and eight months! And I can tell you that Bi-Racial couples is right up my alley! I am in one for over two years now!lol

One of my best topics was about what people were learning here on mylot. That was one which got the most responses. But a simple question about whether or not parents should read children's diaries got the day's top discussion! It was back and forth as people were hotly opinionated on the topic!

My guess is that there a lot of folks here who are here for the earnings - and many will do the least amount of "work" in being on myLot . . . thus, the short answers with no substance. Sometimes I will go through the discussions and can't find anything I really want to take the time to respond to, but then I'll see something that catches my eye. And then I'll put my 2 cents into that discussion - even if I know it won't be a long exchange of words. It was just for fun . . . so the short ones are a good break from the long ones - and I mean that in a good way! I've notice that on myLot, the discussions that I pose that are general to the public are the ones that get the most responses. Rain, myLot, friends, kids, whatever that everyone knows about . . . I've even posed an ice cream question myself . . . and those are the ones that everyone in the world has something to say about. But some of my topics were/are too obsure for the myLot world: figure skating, gestational diabetes, or topics that would probably take too long to fully answer. So those discussions I will have to save for other sites that specialize in those subjects. Sometimes I think discussions (good or not) just get lost in the shuffle - especially in the high traffic "interests". It's like your question is only as good for the life it has on interest page . . . and then it's a matter of your friends deciding to comment on your discussion or not. It could be the timing of the topic, or even the time of day! Also, because of earning potentials, people will answer the ones they can get through quickly (only because they can relate to it) and go on to the next one. Sadly, that's just the way it is soemtimes on myLot.

Strange that no matter where you live in this world, we all are actually alike. In my country we eat ice cream in winter as well in summer. I never notice the difference, but according to the elders, the more cold things you eat in winter the hotter you will get, as in body heat, you know what i mean. In summer we have the tendancy to actually drown ourselves in coffee and other hot beverages, and this is going to sound disgusting, but the more hot drinks, the more you sweat, the cooler you get. Strange i know. But to get back to discussions. I am not good with it, get a few responses, but as they say, rather get one, than none.

you never know what kinds of topic will be hot. I usually check mylot before I go to bed. I really enjoy mylotting, but I don't make it serious and don't spend much time on it. I reply about 5 discussions a day, and if something comes to me, I create the topic. I choose the topic to respond randomly base on my mood at that time. And the ice cream topic is kind of interesting. I'm sorry to say this, but for the bi-racial or multi-racial topic, I don't see it interesting at all. All I can think about it is "ohh, I'm not bi-racial or multi-racial person, but I think mixed racial people is good looking, I've always wanted to have a mixed kid" That's kind of boring to compare with ice cream don't you think? again, you never know what kinds of topic will be hot, just like this one, it's hot.
