With its succesful test run at the end of 2009,the Large Hadron Collider ner Geneva,Switzerland, seized the world record for the highest energy particle collison created by mankind. We can now reflect on the next question:What will it discover, and why should we care?

Why should we care? That is an interesting question. It does not seem to serve any pourpose. But coming to think of it, nothing has any pourpose. We nevertheless go on about our lives as if it has a pourpose. A good career, a good job ,a good family and so on...we have so many things which we think are important. I may seem to be digressing but the 'why should we care' caught my attention.

You are right again. The pourpose of life is to enjoy. Money is not wasted so as long as peivate citizens use money they themselves have earned. However, when governments spend money on things like th CERN, it is wrong. I would rather use my tax money in a way that I want than know the begining of the universe.

The purpose of life is to make it purposeless. We are hedonistic organisms trying to define ways and means to serve that purpose! I do not agree that government spending on Hadron is wrong or waste of money. Most of the technological applications and applied industrial products have come from basic research. Basic research appears waste of money especially when viewed from narrow time frame , but they do give insights which enhance our pleasure.

yes but the scientist are confident about finding out the cause of big bang after this experiement ,the hypothis of life is toi achieve more enjoyment ..but here the problem is of wastage of knowledge and money..

The Large Hadron Collider has gained considerable attention from outside the scientific community and its progress is followed by most popular science media. The LHC has also sparked the imaginations of authors of works of fiction, such as novels, TV series, and video games, although descriptions of what it is, how it works, and projected outcomes of the experiments are often only vaguely accurate, occasionally causing concern among the general public. Physicists hope that the LHC will help answer the most fundamental questions in physics, questions concerning the basic laws governing the interactions and forces among the elementary objects, the deep structure of space and time, especially regarding the intersection of quantum mechanics and general relativity, where current theories and knowledge are unclear or break down altogether SOURCE:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider

Dear friend this proejct is to find out the cause of this universe ,means how this universe come in existence by studying nature of fundamental particles and their collisions.but we cant find out the cause of universe just by testing few particles colliding to each other.in the atmosphere of Earth .these kind of experiemnts must be done in space where there is absolute vaccum..cause there is danger of ineraction of earth material forces..on this collisions

These experiments are conducted under simulated conditions.
