I blog hop and get to see this blogger share about an article about Facebook security. It is worrying after reading the post content.
It goes this way : A friend complained, "her account facebook has been hacked ". All the photos gone. Can not login. In the end, my friend had received email containing the threat from hackers. His photographs will be modified in such a way as to be immoral photos complete with negative stories. Photos and stories will be distributed all over the world, except my friends want to pay according to the hacker wants.
Although we had arranged our privacy, such as who can see profiles, who can see the pictures, or who can comment status, can still show the nature of information and important details. Complete address, telephone number / hp, not included. Than sorry later on. We don't know all around us, there are many hackers who are ready to devour any time anywhere.
Let me know what do you think about this issue?

I think that people are quite foolish to think that things they post on a site on the internet are safe and secure. It is a bit different when dealing with a respected financial institution say for online banking or PayPal, but on a social networking anything can happen.
This is why I am appalled to see parents posting photos of their children onine or allowing their children to post personal information.

I agree with you there. I don't have a photo of myself on the social networking sites. My profiles have the bare minimum if info. I'm targeted enough as it is, I don't care to put a bulls-eye on my back or face ,for that matter, by posting too info much on social networking sites.

I think people get too hyped up over it. Why post all your personal information on Facebook anyway? Make one to talk to friends and family. You are not forced to place your personal info on it, so why complain?

Hi there,
thanks for your response. Yes, it is better not to expose the personal information in facebook. People just never think of the Facebook has its security in it but still hackers are doing what they want. Better to pass this message around so our friends and family would have be more careful.

This is a problem at some point or another for every site, and for every person, on the internet. The best we can do is not post anything we would not want to be spread about, or too keep changing passwords and have more than one good virus/hacker software program running on our computers.
It is very sad, but there isn't really yet a sure way to prevent it.

Yeah, I hear stories like this one. I have deactivated my facebook account almost two months ago. People should really be careful in divulging information.

Oh yeah, I think I have heard the same story before about a facebook account wherein her pictures were all hacked and it was taken from here facebook account. I don't know anything about how the facebook admin responded to this, but isn't it scary how hackers can easily access facebook profiles? I don't know actualy how facebook works and i'm honestly not a big fan of them. BUt looking at the other side of the story, don't you think that maybe this is just a negative comment from facebook's rivals? It may make sense but can also be true. Facebook now is one of the leading "get-connected" sites so the possibility that they are being pried on by their rivals can be a possibility. On the other hand, I once read on the yahoo news about a lady who got fired from work due to facebook. It happened when he went on for a leave at work due to psychiatric condition, which is depression, when she came back to work she was fired by her boss. THe boss explained how he saw her pictures in facebook enjoying her vacation in mexico with friends, he even said that there are pictures of her drinking with friends and having a blast. What's worst is the boss took her health insurance benefits because of this. Isn't it amazing how facebook can actually change an individual's life? This maybe just a simple story for us but this is actually true and can happen on anyone. So to all of us with facebook accounts, let's just be careful with the pictures we post and the information we put in there. Even with the security settings that the facebook admin provide us, let's just still be cautious enough and handle our profiles in a more secured manner. Oh well, that's it then. Thanks for this post vingyan06, your topic is very interesting. Happy mylotting.

That's pretty scary. We know that everyone's into Facebook and all our personal information can easily be had by friends. I hope Facebook will do something about this, like improve the security of its members. I also do FB everyday as it is my way of keeping in touch with family and friends but what you just said now worries me. I hope these hackers will be identified and punished.

Yea, there are always risks to using sites like facebook or myspace, especially with your details set and your photo albums etc...
I would never agree to the blackmail- i mean the hacker could just fool you and once he gets what he wants, do whatever he was going to do initially or ask for more.
I think the best opt- would be to try and contact facebook, or just start a new account and ignore the previous one.

This is news to me. Reading this post send shivers down my spine as I have lots of pictures in my facebook posted by my siblings. All social sites are target of these hackers and it is quite dangerous to put our real pictures in these social sites as we may never know what these hackers do to our pictures.

Unfortunately it's too easy for hackers to steal information from us. Pictures are especially easy to steal and use in terrible ways. Your friend would be foolish to give into the blackmail attempts, as there is no way to know that they wouldn't do something anyway. She should act like it doesn't matter, because the hackers objective is to make money. If they can't they are less apt to follow thru with their threats.

I have an account there but rarely put a photos as i am not feel nervous as I am not a celebrity or well endowed there are lot who also put their pictures and yet they are not affected. as the hacker research to would be their victim is and maybe your friend is rich that she becomes the target. As hacker are so wise they conduct research before getting their victim so it is good to remain simple the safer.

It's a good thing I don't have many pictures on my Facebook account, then. I always, always, always use non-identifiable pictures and I put the least amount of information about myself on there. It's common sense not to put stuff like your complete address and phone number on any sites, but a lot of people don't seem to have much of that these days.

Unfortunately the internet is not very safe. Law breakers are always one step ahead of lawmakers, its the same case for hackers. They are always one step ahead of the latest security measures. They can get easy access to everything about you on the internet. The best thing to do is refrain from posting a lot of photos or telling everyone everything that you do and do not display addresses telephone numbers etc.
