It was pink and all squished up..

Well, due to a certain person's snoring, I sleep with earplugs most night. They are the pink foam ones that come in multi packs. Some nights they fall out, so it was funny this morning when Dearra found one on the bed and wanted to know what it was and why it was so squished up. So I told her it was an earplug and I had probably slept on it. I told her to put it back on the bed, by my pillow and I'd deal with it later. So she put it under my pillow and declared to the room, "Mom has been visited by the earplug fairy."

Shouldn't the ear plug fairy have stolen your ear plugs and left you money instead?

The following morning I found 50 cents under the pillow (ok the husband was in on the joke) and I went and told the kids that the earplug fairy had left me money. Response? A groan and some rolled eyes...

Hi Dawnald Dearra has the same wonderful sense of humor her mom has. The earplug fairy left two pink squished lumps of foam in my own bed this morning, and looked all around, dug in my ears,no plugs, okay there they are, so picked them up and put them in the nice wooden box I have had forever. right on top my bedside stand. along with a lot of other stuff of course. You and your girls have a ball , and it sounds to good after listening to some mylotters who have so many problems with their own girls. you have a sense of humor and life is a lot easier for those who do I think as they can endure the little irksome things that sometimes throw those who have absolutely no sense of humor at all.

A sense of humor is the key to not doing horrible things to the children when they get aggravating. Seriously though I do believe that if the children see me handling things with humor instead of anger, hysteria, etc., that they will learn the same thing.

LMAO!! i can sympathize. when my dad's mom used to visit, they always put her with me-and she snored like a full bore chainsaw. usually snoring doesn't bother me,but she was just..i think she would have gave The Who a run for their money.

the thing that used to get me is when she'd hold her breath........then resume. she most likely had apnea actually, but they didn't call it as such at the time.

He does that sometimes too, but refuses to consider the possibility of sleep apnea.

Yikes, that doesn't sound like fun. Well if I can manage to get to sleep first, the snoring doesn't bother me. But if he does, it can take a while to get his snoring to simmer down enough for me to fall asleep, even with earplugs.

Hey dawn! I sleep with earplugs too! I can't stand my noisy neighbors or my boyfriend's snoring (which I can still hear)! I have used them for years now or I would have killed the phucking whoore that lives next store! She has been keeping me and the rest of the neighbors who haven't moved out because of her (no lie) awake for 29 years! Damn old beotch hag whoore! So, lucky for me I found earplugs!!!! But, my bf snores so damn loud that they just don't work! He's lucky I can put up with him! I either end up reading or go back to the computer to hang with Star (favorite cat)! God help me!

Hi Dawn, I am not surprised with her comment. she's really smartly funny for saying that declaration. she's so full of wit. i know there will be more surprising humor from this precious girl of yours. so there will be another fairy inb our sleep aside from the tooth fairy--the earplug fairy.

she really believes that there's earplug fairy and she wants to make friends with her starting with a 50cents incentive. that is so cute. and that innocent smile and rolling of eyes--crazy lovely.

It seems some of us have pixies and fairies on the mind of late. Has nothing to do with ear plugs, though. In the middle of our snow storm I was at the store for some of my clients and it is a store I seldom go to. Things had changed bunches in the last week and I decided the fairies had been in in the night and rearragnced the aisles.

I hate when they do that. I go in for one thing and it's on the opposite end of the store where I expect it. Or I go grocery shopping and all my coupons are in order based on their location in the store, and then the location's changed. But I'm not hidebound, rigid and stuck in my own little ways...

Dawn, I've said it before: I'd so love to be part of a family like yours! A laugh a minute! Dearra is so like you, but then growing up with your brand of humour, she would have to be. I wonder if she and Naomi and Carey realise how "lucky" they are. I'm sure they do. Make sure to tell them how wise they were in being born into YOUR family!

Just flitting by:Well, aren't you kind! I used to pinch his nose and yell at him to turn on his side. Only ever snored if he was lying on his back or if he had had a drink - yes, then he would snore. thinks: time to flit off again the torrential rain. If the guests ever call me once more and ask when is it going to stop raining then I may just be tempted to slit my throat!Thinks again: Nah, they are not worth it. And whom do you thnk Dearra takes after???????

I pinch his nose, whack him and, last resort, yank his pillow out from under him. I don't yell, but I have permission to. :-) Dearra is a little blond haired, blue eyed Dawn. Just ask Cloudwatcher!

So do I except when I don't. :-) When they argue so long and hard about something that they could have just DONE in 10 seconds, for example. But then my mom always said that the difficult ones were more fun.

Depends on what is causing the snoring, but there are treatments. My dad actually had surgery (deviated septum maybe, I forget) and the snoring was much better after that.

sounds like she is pretty funny and has her mothers sense of humor i never thought of that when hubby was alive and snored so loud he would actually waken his own self i did get used to it so though. when he passed away it was one of the things made it hard to sleep till i got a black lab that snored! then i slept. now, im used to doing without the noise. coco is a quiet sleeper.

Get Dearra to make a large tennis ball shape out of joined up earplugs and stick it in his mouth when he snores, or sew it onto his back.
