So what do you guys think about traffic exchanges as a way to gain referrals? Have you guys had any luck with them. I was wondering because I used to be into internet marketing a couple years ago but found an extremly good job chance and kind of forgot about it. I can't seem to remember how well they worked and now I have the time again to focus on using the internet as a way to support my income. So I figured I would come to the place where I know everybody has something to say.
So chime in MyLotters and let me know what you think about traffic exchanges as a way to get referrals.

Yeah they do take some time, I wasn't really seeing serious increases in traffic for a couple days of focused surfing. Also if you have a hit counter make sure it updates automatically, some of them won't show updates to traffic except once every 24hrs.

Traffic Exchanges are sites than you can use to boost traffic to your site.
There are 2 kinds.
1. Manual Surf: Using these sites you actually visit a page for a set amount of time to earn credits. After the time you usually have to hit a button or type something in to verify you are actually viewing the page. These are the ones to use to build referrals. They take a lot of time because usually it is 10-20 seconds long and you have to be involved in it.
2. Auto Surf: Using one of these sites a script automatically surfs a list of sites giving you credits that you can use to put your site in the list of sites. You don't have to do anything except run the script. These are normally used to boost traffic to a site like a blog, some PTP sites, and probally some other reasons. If you run a couple of auto-surf programs you can usually add a few 1000 views to your blog/site very quickly but people are not actually paying attention to what is on the site. Very bad for referral building.
If you would like more information feel free to add me as a friend and PM me and I will give you a list of some of the most popular sites that people use.
Hope that helps.

I know some people who use traffic exchanges to get referrals to other traffic exchanges and do well out of it.
I've just started a blog and used the traffic exchanges to get page views but people tend to just surf the pages and the majority don't seem to pay much attention to the content.
