Hi everyone, I love to write and I do so frequently here on mylot and around the internet. Next to that I write short stories and poetry, and I was thinking about publishing it one way or another. Does anyone have tips for writing an e-book? And perhaps on how to protect it (I don't mind people spreading it, but I would like to make sure that it doesn't get tampered with). Or would you suggest to print it? I am not planning anything big with it, but it would be nice to have a neat bundle of my own work. Thanks in advance!

Writing an e-book is the best option to publish without spending any money anywhere. In order to protect it, you get it copyrighted(which I feel is a paid service and limited to a region) using services of such agencies. Another way to protect is to use encryption when you create an ebook. This encryption will insure that the book is only opened by those who have a password. There are also some paid courses online which teach how to create and publish an ebook online. You can learn more at www.earnfromnet.com/self-employment-jobs/writing-jobs/write-ebooks-to-earn-money.htm Before you proceed any further it is better to decide the contents and whether you sell the book or distribute it free of cost.

Thank you for the tips online4survival. An online course might be a good idea if I do get around to writing an ebook anytime soon. I love to write but I seem to have little time on my hands lately. Hopefully I will be able to get more active with my hobbies again and then I would consider getting more serious. Your tips are a great help once I get there. Thanks!

You want to get your work copy-righted first off to protect it before publishing. If you want people to start reading it without having to spend too much money then my advice would to be to make an ebook first off. If you a lot if feedback, take the critizism and use it to make your work better. A lot of hits will help you determine whether or not it is worth publishing your work. Remember though... Copyright your work... Or you could lose it to a thief!!

Thank you for your tips cryw0lf, copy-righting my work would indeed be the first step to take. I have seen to many artists ending up losing their work to thiefs, and even if their work was copyrighted there were still people trying to rip it off one way or another. A friend of mine lost many of his artwork that way. It was scattered around ebay as prints, on mugs, watches, you name it. By then it was totally out of hand and I am unsure if he will ever be able to stop it.
