Hi everyone, I'm just wondering from some of the other parents who stayed home to raise their kids, how long did you wait to go back to work?

When I had my son I stayed home for about a year until I had to go back to work for financial reasons. It is wonderful for all of the mom's that can stay at home with their children and I wish I could do that as well. Since I can't, I make sure I have routine activities and times just for my son and I to have time together. In the end whether you stay at home 6week or 18 years, the most important thing is that you love your child to pieces and show them that every chance you get.

am lucky to be a teacher and luckier enough to only have a kid to mind the way i want to raise a kid. i plan to get back to work the moment my child turns high school since the study habits and discipline i hope to instill in him would be ingrained already and since teaching jobs look more on qualifications and lesser on age then i think it would be easier for me to get back to work. besides, occupations in the educational arena never gets filled up. at least, that was what surveys are saying and with many schools, at least in my country, sprouting here and there i still see a career for me.

I started staying at home with my son from the day that he was born. He is now three years and three months old. I've not worked a day since he was born. I do intend to go back to work eventually, but I don't plan to do so until he is in school full time, so it is going to be at least another two years before I go back to work. The reason that I've decided to do it this way is because my daughter was in daycare when she was younger and it wasn't a good experience for her so my husband and I decided that we would rather sacrifice the income for several years than to sacrifice the happiness of our children.

My husband and I decided 20 years ago that I would be a stay-at-home mom. I'm still here. We have 2 left at home..an 18 year old senior in high school and an 8 year old that I currently home school. I was going to go back to work next year, but now that we have the 8 year old (he's our grandson) it looks like I will be keeping my current "job" for a few more years.
