Hi sparksssss.
If one has a personal relationship with God they will know in their heart. There are times too, that He answers, but not in the way we thought He would answer-- on in the time frame we figured.
He will answer only according to His will, which is never contrary to the Holy Bible.

Thanks for your reply pastor. Sometimes i pray for the signs. if my signs are correct, it means God answered my prayers but my mom said i should not ask for the signs because satan will hear that. is that true pastor? since then, i never pray for the sign.

Hi Sparksssss: Someone told me once, and I believe it to be true: God has three answers - "Yes", "Be patient, the time is not now", and "I have something better for you."
Faith. Faith is defined in the bible as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1,KJV).
When we pray, we must firmly believe that what we are asking for truly exists and is possible in God. The evidence is in the conviction that we actually receive what we asked for in God's time - not our time.
You may pray to keep your job and then you get fired. You think God did not answer your prayers. That may be one of the times when the answer to your prayer was "Let it go. I have something better for you. Times will be rough for a minute, but I am with you and you will be all right."
Think of the woman who discovered her ex-husband was a serial killer. She may have prayed for her marriage to work. She may have felt like God let her down when the marriage fell apart. Maybe the truth is, God's answer to her was "Go. Get out of this relationship and take your child. It will save your lives."
I have had prayers answered almost before I could get the words out of my mouth so there was no doubt that God's hand was in it. Other times, it has taken me years to realize that for the grace of God and perfect divine interference, I would be in another place that was not so comfortable. I thank God for not answering those prayers as I thought I wanted them to be answered. God knows best.
How do you know if God answered your prayer? That requires more prayer and meditation. I like the definitions given for prayer and meditation. Prayer is when you talk to God. Meditation is when you listen to God. Think about what you asked for and consider the outcome. Look at it from all angles. It may be that you got a "Yes" or it may be that you have to be patient for the right time and something better.
God bless.

hey thanks for sharing that verse and i also learned this one. "Faith is to believe what you do not see; but the reward of Faith is to see what you believe"

hi sparksssss,
this is not something which one can not express easily, i can only say that God does answer my prayers and i can only feel it, i can tell you if we expect Him to answer soon then we do feel like He doesn't listen or answer our prayers.. we just need to leave it all to Him... this is all i can say... like the above response it depends upon our relation with God, God loves us all the same but we have our own ways... unfortunately.

Your prayer must come from a pure heart and your heart must be free from all sins meaning you have repented them already. There are times that God instantly answers our prayers and there are times that it takes a long time. God's will and timing are always the best and for our own good. For example when I prayed to God years back to heal my skin disease, it took a long time before it came and it came when I had learned to humble myself and asked for forgiveness from my sins against my sister whom I had some misunderstanding. After i did it, healing instantly came upon my body.
Some prayer requests we make to God needs some meditation and reflection on our part. God wants to mold our character so that when the answer came, we're ready for it.
