So, we finally got to watch the chipmunks movie. As per my last discussion, we had problems the night before because of the Avatar line up. Today we got to the movie theater before noon, and we didn't have problems getting the ticket.
Anyway, I know I wouldn't like this movie. But for the sake of the kids, I just gritted my teeth and sat through it. Before the movie started, I said I was not going to laugh at anything. What surprised me was that it wasn't that hard not to laugh. Not one scene in the movie made me laugh. Of course the kids loved it.
So, for those who've watched the movie, was there any funny scene that you could remind me so I would reconsider the humor? Or for those who did not watch it, what's your specific reason to shy away from it?

I have not yet seen the movie but we are all wanting to, we saw the first one and thought it was good. The previews that we saw of the movie looked pretty good but that seems to be how it is with some of movies the previews are the only good parts. I will have to wait and see what the kids think, I am anxious to see the part with the female chipmunks singing put a ring on it LOL

Well I have a 7 year old sister and I'm hoping that this isn't one of the movies that we're going to see this weekend.. (as I'm letting her pick). Maybe the chipmunks just weren't part of my.. generation. Even as a kid I found them to be the most annoying.. trio.. cartoon characters EVER! (And usually kids are DRAWN to these types of horrendously annoying shows). I much preferred Rugrats or Hey! Arnold. The voices are what get to me. Sooo annoying.

Same here maezee. You can have a small doze of those annoying voices, but not whole movie! Goodluck this weekend. But if your sister has friends or classmates that have already seen it, you might just end up sitting for that one. If you do, try not to laugh for the whole movie. You'd be surprised that it isn't that hard.

I responded to your other discussion, I've seen the movie. It was an allright movie, could have been better, but wasn't bad either. I guess it was lacking since ** SPOILER TO THOSE WHO HAVEN'T BUT WANT TO SEE IT* Dave was not in the movie as much as I would have liked. The whole thing with his cousin? Well it was nice and kind of sweet, silly and romantic. I felt that the Chipmunks old manager was just a jerk, and I didn't like him!

Ok, ok, speaking of their old manager. I think I could reconsider smiling on that last scene were he tried to open up for Brittney Spears at the Staples Center. Not for the socks, or the thing that he was wearing, but for the duct tape that he used to hold whatever that was on his head!

Yea, that was hilarious, the duct tape on his head, what was it he was wearing? I totally forgot!

I stay clear of it. I think I'm a little too old for it, and last year they played the first one on TV. I couldn't stand thirty minutes of it. I figured this one wouldn't be even the slightest bit funny, and it sounds like it isn't. Sorry you had to slog through it, but if the kids loved it, then that's something :-)

I haven't seen it bounce, I am hoping to get out of it and wait for the dvd so my grandson can watch it on his own, he hasn't been begging to see this one like he did the first one. Last movie he really wanted to see was Where the Wild things are, and we both loved it.
So does a 3 year old know the difference between guinea pigs and chipmunks?

That's what I wanted too. Movies like these are only good for DVD's. Not worth the ticket, the popcorn, the drinks, and the candy if you go to the movie house.
No, he still doesn't know the difference. He kept referring to the G-Force movie as 'the other chipmunk movie'.

I haven't seen the movie, and I don't plan to. I saw the first movie and didn't like it. I'm not big on comedy movies anyway, I'm more of a suspence/horror/action type of girl, so it would be hard to make me laugh. The first one didn't make me laugh at all - I was pretty bored watching it. I just figured if I didn't like the first I most likely wouldn't like the second one. Normally, for me, the second movie isn't as good as the first [there are some exceptions, like Transformers! =] I like the second one better than the first!] so if I don't like the first one I most likely won't go see the second.
It is a good kids movie though. Luckily for me I don't babysit anymore, and have no children of my own yet. =]

I went with my daughter and saw it a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was very cute, and yes there were some scenes that did give me a pretty good laugh. The one that still stands out in my mind at this moment is when the Chipmunks are on the phone with Dave and they tell him that their aunt is practicing her pole dancing. It was off the wall and unexpected which is the reason that I think I got a pretty good laugh out of it.

I haven't watched it yet, but I'm looking forward. I think I am gonna like it as the first one. Maybe it's not your type of humor.
I LOVE cute chipmunks.
