Getting Referrals Through Forums & Networking Sites

I strongly believe in utilizing forums and networking sites to promote your business or online programs. I also believe that there is a right and a wrong way. I am speaking from experience as I am the admin or co-admin of several. The biggest mistake I see members make is not starting with the guidelines. Most if not all forums let you know what is acceptable and what is not. Firstly, take the time to intoduce yourself..this lets others know that you want to be a part of the community. Then take a moment to find a topic you can relate to and make a post there. Never spam your ads as this is not accepted in any forums, except for spam farms(free advertising forums that have no real content except for ads). Most forums allow links in your signature. Your signature is attached automatically to all your posts. So the more you contribute the more your signature gets seen. I personally click on links in signatures, because the person wrote something interesting..or they had a real catchy signature. This kind of promoting costs you nothing except for the time you are willing to invest. You can use these guidelines on most networking sites also. The extra advantage of using networking sites is the ability to create profiles. Your profile page is your window of how you want others to see you. So always fill out your profile and if you have time spruce it up with images or articles..whatever might make your profile stick out from others. I hope you find this information useful.
