While some one and half months ago unfortunately my computers hard disc crashed and you know it, what does that means:....at that situation only one thing comes to our mind is that, that "had I had the habit of keeping the BACKUPS" I wouldn't have suffered.......
Had you people had such horrible experience at any stage.....and what remediable steps that you are adhering to.....to get rid of such problems???I felt very bad after reading the news paper that an old lady who is handicapped and is always on the wheel-chair was researching on some important subject in fact her last 3-4 years work was on the laptop which was been stolen at the airport while she was busy with check-out counter.

That is such a sad story. It reminds me of a guy whose doctoral dissertation was stolen out of the trunk of his car shortly before it was ready to be turned in and it was his only copy. Personal computers were just being invented when I stored chapters from my own dissertation on an old hand-built one, and I remember being so concerned about data loss. I would print out 3 copies of every chapter and store one in the trunk of my car, one at home, and one in my office at work. Now I pay for automatic online backup service and after trying out quite a few different ones, I have finally found a couple that work really well. In some ways technology simplifies our lives but in other ways it makes them more complicated.

thats seriously awful data is like brain of a computer and as u said computer are our lifeline what use are life without brains. Well i was just searching something online and got some weird stuff well actually would call it kewl stuff.
There is a saying that if you freeze your crashed hard drive in the freezer and reconnect it it works.
I searched for things related to thing and i got some websites where people actually tried and made a tutorial out of it it has risk of course but if your data is really important and you can't afford an expert to recover your data then its worth one shot. check out links below.

I also found another way but its costs money
go to

and check out #9 post in that page by Detonate
Hope above solves your problem have a nice day!

Its very handy to know such sites which you have mentioned and get some sort of help from these sites and again as you have mentioned that by payment I hope one can easily recover the really important Data back again.
Prevention is better than cure:.....so there must be some way or some forums which gives us some free space to store our personal data say some 2MB and like way we can join few such sites and store our Data, and hence it is better to backup on such free sites and recover the Data.
Hope every-one of us keep the backups!!!

Yes there are dude.Their are many upload site where you can keep your data as backup.but of course they are not exactly backup sites when we talk about free cause they are more of like files hosting sites. So they will keep your files for 90 days and within 90 days you have to download them once on someone has to download them at least once. You can also make your files private to keep confidential data so search engines will not find your data in files hosting sites. For photos and videos you can try opera browser it gives 9gb space for photo and videos backup or you can try any of photo website like Photobucket.com, flickers.com, picasa.com etc
And for some good files hosting site mediafire.com is a very good site.

I agree with that. computer play a vital role in everyone's life now a days. We can know whatever informaton we want by using the PC. I can get updation each and every second of the happending in the world. It is useful not only to update the knowledge but also helps to save the life. Last month, when I was browing the computers, I came to know that one of the bady require a urgent blood for bypass operation. Luckily, i was staying in the same city and same blood group. I was able to save the life. becausE I GOT THE BUZZ FROM THE SPECIFIC WEBSITE.

Yes the whole subject is that we must learn from our mistakes that how important it is to keep the backups b'coz we are very much with the cyber-world and we cannot do away with it.
on the other hand you have brought a totally new dimension to the discussion,we give you a clap and all our hats off for you that you have acted very swiftly just because of the computers, you helped the baby from......
again three cheers for you,the computer and for the baby.

If the computer is our lifeline, then we should take good care of it. Backing-up data, cleaning the files and making sure that the anti-virus is up to date. As it is our life line, we should treat it the way we treat other personal belongings such as bags.

You are very true to the fact and hence must take those steps so as to keep our lifeline running in to its full swing and smiling all the way.Haven't you faced such crash ever, even though it seems you are very serious about the subject.

Hi rocket2020, I had also faced same problem last year and lost all data which i collected in 4 years...my study matter as i was doing engineering, songs as was living away from home so already needed and had about 6000 songs with so many videos and i lost all...Really that was a big shock for me as i never made any back up..so lost all such a foolishness by me but i used to share my matter with my friends as well so recovered some what from them but still i lost a lot...
When my hard disk crashed i was completely helpless and i realized the importance of it...
Yes in today's world if there is no computer then life may stop or become very slow so thanks to engineers who are working to improve the technologies day by day...

Its very bad that you too have lost your important Data and still in the process of collecting from your friends with whom you have luckily shared those bit of Data,I don't understand why doesn't these manufacture companies make an inbuilt data storing attachment which automatically keep on storing the data that we opt for backup, like the black box of the airplanes and so,I hope you will do the things as you your-self are on the same professional and hopefully the improvements will be available latter than sooner.

yes dear vineetkotnala, you are exactly on the right spot, there must be an inbuilt extra storing device which automatically gets the backup whenever we save the file with an option of backup, and so on,like the black-box of an airplane or so,then why don't this simple logic didn't came to the mind of our manufacturer......yes there is another story behind it altogether.

Umm... some months ago I dropped my laptop and the hard disc crash, but fortunately for me I bought a new and better one in a week : D at least something good happened... not to mention that I lost all my previous data : (
And I need to agree with the title... even if staying on the computer to much is unhealthy.

Your agreeing with the title is very positive sign and is welcoming as well.Hence as a matter of fact the question still remain unanswered i.e. how to have our Data stored so that we does not face such situation that most of us fall into, therefore people like us must be bit focused.
