hi there people, i like to read books, but i prefere to watch movies, they're better i think, with books you can only immagin what you read, but with movies you can see and heard all the things and you can enjoy it in a better way. Books are longer than movies and requires more time. And what about you? Do you prefere to read books or to watch movies? Why? do you think that is for ignorants to watch movies and not to read books? Thank you for your responses :)

Hey codris! I really think of reading a book and watching a movie as two completely separate entities! I watch a movie when I want to be entertained in one sort of way! If i am in the mood to sit and relax quietly I would much rather pick up a book! So to me they are two separate forms of entertainment! When you are reading that is something you do when you want to be alone. When I watch a movie I am usually doing that with my boyfriend or friends!

I enjoy doing both about equally really. Movies are great and all, but they can be gone through so quickly and I feel there are less and less great movies being made. It is also great that movies can be a shared experience, you can go with people to see them or have a group watch a flick with you. While books lack the true shared experience, there's so much depth to them. The characters and imagery is created in my head, I have a bit of a say to how things look. So I can do my own casting for the characters instead of dealing with who is cast in a movie. There also always seems to be a slew of new books I want to read. My preference stems on my mood. I don't always want to do one or the other, it just depends. I don't think it's ignorant to not want to read, but I think you do lose a great experience if you never give reading for enjoyment a chance.

I like to do both. I love to just sit down and read for awhile. It can be quiet or loud and I can just sit down and read and enjoy a day. I also like to watch movies as well. I like watching movies based on books that I have read. Then I can see what I interpreted different than what the movie brought about.

i prefer watching movies on some stuff like Lord of the rings, i prefer watching it in the movie but when it comes to books such as maybe oliver twist, darren shan bookks they should keep it at books and not make it into a motion picture.

Hi codris, I assume that the books you are talking about are fiction books. Of course, if given the option to watch the movie or read the book, for example, on Titanic, I would almost certainly opt to watch the movie. No amount of words in written form can aptly describe a certain scenario. For example, in the case of Titanic, seeing the gigantic ocean liner breaking up into two before sinking into the bottom of the ocean, is more breath-taking than imagining it in our minds from written words. Having said that, I am not implying that reading is not encouraged. I myself have read horror novels which really scare the wits out of me! Who says you need to see those demons and ghosts on the wide screen in order to feel the creepiness? Ultimately, it all boils down to personal preferences. What matters most is the reader or the audience enjoys what he reads or sees. Isn't this entertaining?

Hello codris, I like reading and watching movies too but I don't do it too often now due to my busyness. I like reading novels especially thriller. When I was younger, I watch movies at the cinema twice or thrice a week. Nowadays, I only watch movies at home. My husband and I like to watch two or three movies a day and we always do that during weekends.

Movies......because they are way more entertaining, you cant get visuals like movies through books unless you have a very wide imagination. Though some books are really good.

Personally I prefer movies but feel that I should read more. My trouble is that I don't actually enjoy staring at print and so it ends up a mechanical process where I am reading but not fully taking what I have read in, which has the knock on effect that I ended up not using my imagination to visualize what I have read. The thing is for those who do enjoy reading it does give you a better opportunity to use your imagination because with movies you are being shown everything rather than allowing your mind to visualize it instead, which can be more powerful than say the directors vision of the story.

For me as a teenager i want to watch movies because i enjoy it more than reading books.Reading books can take up so many time to finish a one story it could take up days just to read a few pages on the books and you don't hear a sound effects, how the character looks like, how the character act, where the scene taken place, etc. Its all in your imagination. Sometimes when your just reading you get tired of it and get bored so you just stop reading and dont finish the story...LOL

This is a tough question to answer. for me reading lets me create my setting and make the world and people in it look how I want to. A movie is good when the director has a vision that is close to yours. I feel books win in the end because I feel they have more knowledge to be gained from them. Movies are catching up though with the indie stuff catching fire. Ive seen a lot of movies lately that teach great lessons.

While I think both are good forms of media I myself prefer reading a book . For one it's something I can do anywhere in the house and two one of my favorite ways to relax is to take a nice hot bath and then read while still in that steaming hot watcer and you can't do that with a movie without risking serious electrocution .

I like to do both. I will often do both. I try to read the book first though. I prefer reading anyway. But it's nice to see what take they do in a movie. Books often include more detail than what a movie will. I also find that the book is usually much better than the movie was.

I don't like to read I mean I don't hate to but I would prefer to watch a movie instead. I don't think it is ignorant for people to read at all. I agree you can see the whole story with a movie opposed to reading. The only books I read are cook books anyway. L.O.L.

I like doing both but I would definitely choose a movie over a book. I like to watch a movie then read the book that the movie was based on this way I get the picture of the characters in my mind. Sometimes it spoils it if I think the character in the film does not match the character in the book then I have to try and forget that character lol.

That depends. Usually I like the books better. Let's me absorb it at my own pace, discern what exactly the author is saying, and imagine it from my point of view. You kind of just take television in without even having to think about it. But then again there are particularly good movies that couldn't be expressed in books - the cool visual effects, or the portrayal of emotion of really good actors. Both have their merits, both are very good art forms.

I prefer to Watch Movies. Reading a book make my eyes hurt. I don't really like it. But, in Harry Potter case. I prefer read the book than watch the movie. The movie is not the same with the book!
