Hi Ambitiouslyleiah,
Normally we cook just enough. If we cook "extra", it is into our stomachs it goes.
Last time, we used to save dinner leftovers for lunch the next day. But soon, we find that no one seems to enjoy eating leftovers. And so... what would be the point?
So what we do now is just to cook and finish everything cooked over dinner.

I completely understand because my Mum finds it hard to do too. She always cooks so much... a legitimate excuse for me getting fat.

I try to cook just enough sometimes... its hard to do so though, for example when you have thawed out all the meat! I think it would be to my advantage to start portioning my meat before I put it in the freezer... DUH! haha

Save it and eat it for later. I love left overs, I enjoy them for a few days and then they get thrown out. Unless the leftovers are not enough to be a portion, then they would be thrown out.

Why do you prefer leftovers to fresh food?

Oh I don't prefer it over fresh food at all, I just don't mind left overs and find they are just as good for a few days after they're made. I suppose I grew up never wasting anything, so It just comes with it.

I hate when they end up in the trash!! I feel so guilty. That's probably because, as a child, in a Catholic school, we were constantly told that it was a "sin to throw food out" and "there were children starving in China" I often wondered how my sandwich would help a starving child in China but, you didn't question the Nuns, unless you wanted to spend the rest of the day in the "coat room" AND catch hell when you got home as well.
When my kids (now in their 30's) were little, we always ate left overs. I would make sloppy joe's one night, and put the left overs in a crock pot with sphagetti sauce for the next night. They loved it! If we had a ham one night, we would pair the left overs up with potatoes in a frying pan for hash a couple nights later. I have returned to doing these things lately and I feel really good about having less food in the trash. It's sort of recycling.... at it's tastiest.

I actually do this. When I do have left overs that can be made into something else I will make a whole new dinner for another night. We had cornbread in the fridge the other day and some sage sausage left over. So I looked online and found sausage dressing... I made my own version... and it turned out great.
I actually like eating myleft overs this way, most of them still end up in the trash though, I will have to work on that!

If it is still fresh, we all will eat on it until it becomes empty or no good in taste. Of course, we throw out any food that taste spoiled. We always eat our leftovers. After I cook, or if my husband cooks, there is always something left over. I don't have an pet that I could give leftovers to. If I did, then I would probably give my pet any leftovers.

I recycle them. In these times i think it is just practical to recycle all left over foods. Life is so difficult all over the world and there are a lot of people going hungry. Try to recycle them, this way you might even save up a little on your budget. Happy posting!

If they are salvageable, then save them for later. There is no sense in wasting food. I find that there are times where food during the week is saved and then the weekend is leftovers. It can save quite a bit on the food bill by using leftovers. Especially mixing and matching whatever is left over from meals throughout the week and having something for the weekend.

I feel this way too, because I only cook for me and my fiance.
