Lacking Originality??? Losing Popularity???

Those are the questions that I've begun asking myself since I saw the new line up for the show Survivor. They are making it a heroes vs. villain edition which means it will all be the contestants who were either super good/bad in past seasons that are split into the 2 teams. Yeah I love seeing some of the older people come back, but some have been on the show 3 times. Which raises the question is the show losing originality so therefore old people are coming back cause they can't think of anything else to do (Fan edition not to long ago) or is the popularity going downhill so if they bring back favorites they think old viewers are going to start watching. So which is it in your mind? Or do you think there is another reason behind all of it?

Hmmm, I think because they are trying to do what you said. Up the ratings by bringing back some of the old members who were there in the earlier seasons. I used to like Survivor but not anymore. Now I'm more interested in the Amazing Race, it seems really strange and yet, more "real" than Survivor, I think.

I tried watching Amazing Race but never really got into it. I use to be a huge fan of survivor, took a few seasons of a break from it and now got back into it and have been enjoying the seasons and last season was a real crazy one. In case you didn't hear about it, but this guy actually found the idol EVERY time without ANY clues and ended up being runner up but already was a multi-millionaire and is coming back this next season and because his season wasn't aired before this one started none of the players know anything about him.

Hmmm, well my friends were friends of one of the teams on Amazing Race, so that's part of the reason why I watched them. Survivor is a little weird to me tholugh. So is the new guy going to be the star? Maybe he has already figured out the method they chose? :D

I'm not sure how he is going to do this season. A lot of the people that are coming back either where runner ups or pretty close to winning I think so its going to be harder since some of them know each other already, but we'll see how he does with everything. Yes, friends being on the show can get you to start watching it. I've never had any of my friends get on any TV shows but I'm sure if they were I'd be watching as well.

If they have been on the show three times they much have something that people like. I am ancious to see what they have to offer and how it will all fall together. Let's give it a chance and see. And it may be that the popularity for the show has gone down and so they hope to get some viewers through doing this.

I am looking forward to it. I bet it will be one that will go down in the annuals of time too. I wish it would hurry along.

This is the 20th season of Survivor, so they wanted to do something a little different I guess. Over many seasons, certain contestants have either won the hearts of the audience or irritated both the other contestants and the audience as well. I think the producers feel that if they get these two groups together, it will be a real boost to the ratings. I only watched season two through all the episodes and the others have been hit or miss. I don't know how the ratings have been in the last few years, but I am guessing that they have fallen a little. This might either be a grand finale to Survivor or a little booster to get the ratings back.

Yes, with 20 seasons under their belt I'm surprise the show has still lasted. With most shows it seems like 5/6 seasons is the max you'll ever see but I guess since the show always has new people, always a new place, different stuff, etc. then it could last longer. But it is a possibility that this will be the last season.
