Why does it seem like time flies when you reach that certain age?

Back when I was a kid, time went by very slowly. Now that I'm a teenager, every blink of an eye is like another day going by. I really don't know why that is. Even a simple task like washing the dishes can seem like an eternity has passed. It is because there are now more responsibilities and not as much free time?
