A problem is solved when a solution is applied properly at the correct time. For example, I have to send my project proposal to my employer before the deadline, but my computer broke. So the solution is get my computer fixed or create a new project and submit it before the said due date. The problem is not solved by just getting the computer fixed. The real issue is sending the files to the employer on a specific time.

I consider a problem as solved when it doesn't bother my mind anymore, and when I never think of it anymore. xD

We might not think of our problems, or even forget about it. But it doesn't mean that the problem was solved. We can set aside problems, distract our selves until we totally forget it but it sure is still there.

Setting aside a problem would also bother your mind, and I think, when it bothers your mind, it isn't really solved then. Anyways, its your point of view so I respect it. xD

On a small scale, I have to agree with the previous responses. When you are satisfied with the end result, it no longer bothers you, etc. On a larger scale though, such as time management, spiritual distress, physical ailments, etc, the problem may be resolved at one point but our lives are dynamic, so while the problem may be resolved at one point, things change, and then a different problem may arise from the previous one. So I don't think these kinds of problems are really ever resolved completely - they are just managed to the best of our abilities. Example - the relationship with your spouse. The biggest problem may be housekeeping. You love each other so you each do your fair share, but one of you gets sick or gets a promotion that requires longer hours or even gets laid off. Then the problem of housekeeping comes back, but changed. You then have to come up with a slightly changed solution to keep this issue from causing problems.
