Are cash 4 surfing traffic sites the new "in" thing?

A few years back when PTC sites came out they were all the rage and you could find hundreds of them everywhere online. Many sites are still around today and many new ones are popping up but with not much luck as far as getting off the ground. Too many people have all but given up on PTC sites. I joined a traffic site a few months ago that had surf for cash times. I figured why not right? And I have learned that there are a ton of sites out there that offer cash for surfing. Some you have to upgrade,some not. So do you think that these types of traffic sites are the new "in" thing? Will it pass as PTC's time did? WARNING THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION TRYING TO GET REFERRALS.
