Saving movies for a specific time

January 11, 2010 11:30am CST
Now I watch a lot of movies, at least 1 a day quite often 2 or 3. But I have found that I watch certain types of movies at different times of the day. For example I only ever watch horror late at night and generally during the day I will only watch comedies and movies which rely little concentration, saving dramas and thrillers for the evenings. It's not intentionally done, it just happens. Do you end up watching certain types of movie at specific times or does it not bother you?

The only reason I would save a movie for a particular time of day is because I have 5 little kids running around. Usually while they're awake, the TV is on something for them to watch, like cartoons. If we want to watch a movie, and actually pay attention to it, we'll at least have to put the youngest to bed. He's only 2 and not interested in what's on TV, so he will play and disrupt the movie if he's not in bed. We'll watch a family movie with the rest of the kids, then send them to bed and watch something just for us. I rarely watch movies alone without my hubby, unless he's already told me he's not interested in seeing it.

I don't think that saving movies fro specific time in helpful. I'm used to see any type of movies at any time. But, yes..I see the movies in scheduled way like as, if i see today a horror movie, i won't see any horror movie within next 2 days. The next two days are for any action or adventure movie. The reason for this is, anyone can get bored with seeing same types of movies. today, i have seen The Ruins. The Da Vinchi COde is being downloaded for tomorrow.

I suppose if you only watch one movie a day or even less then sticking to the same genre each time could become boring. Thankfully for me because I generally watch more that one a day I still have that variation so it never becomes repetitive. Many thanks for your response.

the only thing that determines when I watch movies is my schedule, and after that, I just watch the least interesting ones in my line up and then work my way to the best ones. I do this because I end up watching movies until like 2 or 3AM, and in order for me to do that, I need to be really into the movie or I will fall asleep. I dont watch quite as much movies as you, but Im in the neighborhood and I probably watch more than most people.

I also watch a lot of movies and my choice of which type of movie really just comes down to how i feel at the time. I know when im in the mood for certain genres like action, comedy and horror. But the horror films usually are at night, just adds to the atmosphere i guess :)

Not quite like you describe but I have different moods for different kinds of films so it varies and right now I'm having a period where I just listen to the radio!
