Is the habit of using shorthands(abbreviations) a way to hide spelling mistakes?

Its a different perspective of viewing things and a nice observation,I admit. Well,to be honest I don't use abbreviations to hide spelling mistakes but it's the other way around-due to the overuse of abbreviations in our lives I tend to neglect spelling these days. I get cautious of it only when I am writing my examination papers! Its not that we are forgetting spellings,its just that we are getting negligent about it.

..hi.. well, I don't know for others, but for me, I never use abbreviations just to hide my weakness in spelling.. I just use shorthand to take note as fast as possible.. then I rewrite when I have time.. for me, shorthand is the secret of making notes..
