Mostly because they fit through the bars. When a child won't take a nap, what makes you think that locking him (or her) in a cage with nothing but a bed in it will work? The trick is to give them an option between a nap and something that they dislike more. Although when I was three, everthing was preferable to a nap. You have to reach a certain age when a nap becomes preferable to anything else. I don't know that for a fact, but that's what I've heard. Is it true P1key?

That was horrible Pikey, really!
And the child who refuses the afternoon nap puts the adult in a virtual prison by attaching itself to the adults lap and using the adult as a chair (or recliner for my avatar in my case) and forcing said adult to watch Yo Gabba Gabba and the Wonder Pets. The adult is confined to whatever uncomfortable position for the duration of such torture and is not permitted leave even to use the rest room. It is worse then prison. It's more like hell.

Hello, Pikey. The answer to this is deceptively simple. Under threes are too young to appreciate appropriate punishment, such as having days out, doing degrees and having better meals than those outside the prison walls who have done absolutely nothing.
The terrible twos would throw a temper tantrum, and then all the prison warders would sue for post traumatic stress disorder, the country would become bankrupt and we'd have to rely on Peter Mandelson to run the country and get us out of trouble. I know it sounds unbelievable, but that's how these things start.
By the way, did you hear that Heather Mills got raped last week? The perpetrator was accused of having an offensive person on his weapon.

Hello, Leif. We aim to please, and I love nothing better than a smiling Swede in my response box.

Maybe they are just resisting a kid nap. That's not an offence, is it?

My husband's pi$$ed off that he didn't come up with that question first. LOL Too funny. I showed it to him, and he nearly laughed vodka out of his nose...and all over my laptop. LOL I already replaced the keyboard once this year, I'm not going to do it again. haha

HaHa, just like you to start a corny discussion, pikey. I certainly am amused.I should have been in prison hundreds of times as my mom would usually fail to put me to sleep in the afternoons almost regularly and would be very cross with me. Now of course i just wait for the afternoon to arrive so i can get a bit of a snooze. Nighttimes? No problem.

Hi p1key,
Parents should just put them behind bars in their cot and let them get on with it till they fall asleep, then ahhhhhh! peace.

Nice joke, by the way. Though I could swear I've already heard this sometime before. Don't worry, I still laughed.

Now you really must have too much spare time on your hands P1key in order to think this one up!!
IF You were My boy, then you would definitely be taking a nap in your cage when I tell you to, or else! And when you were Not napping you would Never have so much spare time to come up with such a discussion, you would be too busy doing other things to fill the time! ;)
