how do you handle a colleague as friend

i have this colleague, who is close and can pass as a true friend, if you were in my shoes, how do you handle him without getting emotional, to avoid the relationship affecting your job, this is because where i work two staff are not allowed to have any serious relationship except if one of them is ready to loose the job.and i know i feel something strong for this guy, how do i go about it.

Thats a hard one. Have you talked to him about it? Don't do something irrational just on a whim without speaking to him about how he feels and to see if its worth one of you having to find another job. If you both decide that its worth it, don't get together until one of you has a different job and can handle loosing your current job. In the meantime, just remain friends and be as patient as you can. Its not worth it to be without a job in this already bad economy. I wish you the best of luck!
