Do you have a best friend?

I don't mean just a lot of friends, although a person can definitely have more than one best friend. But do you have a friend that you count closer to you than any other? It could be your spouse even...Both my parents count each other as their best friend. And it is obvious they truly are. What about you? Who do you count as your best friend, and would you mind telling us a little bit about them?

I have two best friends. One of them, I met in college and we have the same interest. Despite the fact that she lives far from me, she would still call me and we would talk. The other, is a High School teacher and also met her in school. She is a born again Christian and respects what I say or do. I can open up to them, tell them about my problems, concerns and fears - and is sworn to secrecy. In fact both of them are included in my FB account. I would say that I am lucky because they have accepted me for what I am with no strings or conditions attached. I would love to arrange a short get-together and introduced them to each other one of these days.

My husband is my best friend. I know he's the one person I can definitely tell anything to and he'll listen and not judge. He's very supportive and just a wonderful person to be around. I'm also very close to my sister. It took us awhile to get to that point, I'm 8 years older than her, but we've been extremely close over the past few years. Not that we weren't close growing up, but we had a big age difference between us. I was in high school when she was in elementary school. We've been through a lot of family issuses together and have learned to become each other's support and comfort through good times and bad times.

I was pleasantly surprised that so many people named their spouse as their best friend.

Yes I have a good friend. I think having a very good friend is vital. A good friend is usually a reflection of yourself. They may help you understand yourself better. A good friend can also enable a person to change themselves. You can be exposed to qualities and traits that are different than you . This may influence you and a person will start to be more open to various experiences, ideas etc Of course real friends are there in good times and bad times. It is invaluable to have someone who cares about you and knows you when you're going through a difficult period or situation. Sometimes you can become closer to a friend than family. They are more accepting of who you are now. Your family may be more resistant to changes and still want to react to you as a younger sister, brother etc. A friend can even come in the form of a pet. Many people who are pet lovers can identify with how they develop a different type of communication with an animal. They don't replace humans but offer you a special opportunity to bond with another king of living being . As far as my friend she is exactly like me and exactly different. This makes for some very comforting experiences and unexpected exchanges. Let's just say it's never a dull moment.

I did have the closest and the best of friends. I taught her everything and she gained my full trust. But then, she stole more than US$20,000 from me and has no intention of giving it back to me. I'm currently bankrupt and now paying the price for that. Never again will I trust another person that wholeheartedly. Making friends are good but it will never be up to that extent anymore. I learned my lesson the VERY HARD WAY!

My best friend is my hubby and he has been for nearly 52 years, ever since we first met. We have been married for 50 years in March and have shared everything in that time. There is nothing we would not talk about or share with each other.

That makes me teary! I'm just so happy to hear of couples that have long and fulfilling marriages. I know my parents are like that, and I see that now in my sister's marriage. I hope some day I am blessed to find that.

Yes.....I do have a best friend...in fact two best friends. One lives about 200 miles from me....we have been friends for 25 years and we have had our ups and downs....but mostly we are more like sisters.....she doesn't have any and so I guess I filled the bill.....we love so much of the same thing.....there are times she can come to my house for a visit and I'll have bought the same thing as she did.....we both stamp...we both scrap....we enjoy so many things alike. My other best friend lives closer. We spend almost every thursday night together...she is wonderful....we like the same things....we talk about different things.....and she stands by me and is one of the best cheerleaders anyone could have...I am a very lucky person.

Hey Ambie! I used to think I had more than one "best friend", but when it came to really needing someone I found out who was my "real best friend"! And it was my boyfriend! He really is my best friend more than anyone could ever be! And even if we weren't together he says he still would be, although I wouldn't be able to feel the same way! I love him so much even when I think I don't and if he were ever to leave me I don't think I would still be able to count him as my "best friend" and I would truly be devasted! My other so called "best friends" have always managed to disappoint me, even now!

I have two best friends. Both of them started out as barely acquaintances. I will start with Jennifer as I have known her longer. We work at a water park together and she started my second summer there. We got along fine but we didn't talk outside of work. Here we are, three years later, extremely good friends and planning on moving in together when I graduate college this year until she finishes up 2 years from now. She is sweet, funny, and just an awesome person all around. She isn't afraid to put me in my place if I've done wrong or stand up for me if someone has done me wrong. Brooke and I met when I started taking the line dancing class at my college. The second semester I started talking to her. We were too shy at first but now we are great friends and we watch movies together and do all kinds of things. She is very sarcastic and isn't very touchy feely (Jenn hugs me every time we see each other, lol) and doesn't say that she cares much. But when she lets things slip its even more special. Such as when I mention that I will come visit her next year she says things like, "Oh, don't remind me you aren't going to be here! I don't want to think about that!" I am going to miss her but will make the trip over to see her when I can. They are both great girls and nothing alike except for the fact that they are both funny and my friends. They even get along which makes me even happier!

My husband is my best friend and has been since the day we met. I got to know him really well, and we both follow and believe in the same rules. Don't lie, heat, or steal from me and will always be your friend....but higher then that, you will always have my respect. We knew each other and hung out for 4 years before we started dating, and we now have been married for 6 years and our friendship is stronger now then ever. we have never lied or cheatded on each other, and I believe we never will.

For me to call someone my best friend would be one major step. To me, a best friend is someone I have known long enough to trust with anything and everything. I would have to be able to telll them my deepest darkest secret. I hope to have someone soon, someone i can tell everything to with out being judged.

She's my highschool classmate, we have been friends for 3 years, and we usually went to the cinema. I can't forget the days we studied hard to pass the exams. But now it's time to say goodbye, both of us pass the college entrance examinations, but our colleges are in different cities, it's a long way to see her. Take care, my friend! Emm..... I'm new here, and i'm not a native speaker, so maybe my words are silly. Hello AmbiePam! Hello everyone! I like to make friends to everyone!

I have a lot of very close friends, but to my only one can be my best friend. That would have to by by husband, too. We met online in a Pogo chat room and have been married for almost 6 years now. There's no such thing as not having any issues, but I'd still rather be here than anywhere else. (Although the North Pole in July or August sound pretty good) Runners up would be a girlfriend in Boston who I've known since high school (30+ years) and my old neighbor from MA who I've known for about 22 years. I have online friends as well who I've known for about 15 years, some of whom I've had the pleasure of meetingin person. How about you?

I don't think I have a best friend. My sister and mom would come close, as well as a friend I've known since I was 15, when I switched high schools. I'm looking forward to having a best friend, but as yet I no longer have one.

I consider my SO my best friend. He is the only one I ever want to spend my time with, the only one I tell everything too. I have a few friends besides him but we hardly talk and don't do much together anymore. I can be myself around him and I'm very comfortable to talk to him about anything.

Hiya AmbiePam, My other half is my really best friend we can talk about anything even if we don´t always agree. Have other friends too but not best friends but they are really nice people to be with. I love conversations that flow easily with other people too but they don´t really have to be a best friend for me anyway.

I do not have a best friend. I have a lot of friends, but not a best one. My boyfriend is a great friend, but not a best friend. I cannot go to him for everything. I can't talk about guys, or girl stuff with him, so he can't be a best friend. A best friend, should be a person you can talk about anything with, guys, girls, make up, chores, everything.

I do have a few whom I call best friend. In times of need, I can run to them. However, we haven't seen each other for a long period of time. I hope I'll get to see her again.
