Do you agree with this? Proposed Bill: Marriage to expire after 10 years

Philippines
January 12, 2010 7:17pm CST
The battered women's group party list in the Philippines was able to convince a lawmaker to propose a bill which will put expiration date on marriages. If the said bill will succeed, married couple has the option to renew their marriage after 10 years of being together. If the couple failed to renew after the 10 year expiration date then the marriage will automatically be null and void. That means after 10 years, both husband and wife are free to marry again if they will not renew thier marriage license. I hope to hear your voice on this issue mylotters.

where did you get your information? I know that here in the states there is a common law marraige that if you are together with the same person for 10 years you don't need to go through the paper work in order to file for joint taxes. But if this law passes there i wonder how long it will take for something like that to get here. that's wrong.

Friend, it's a headline news in the Philippines. This proposal is not about live in partners who are together with the same person for 10 years. It is about putting an end or expiration to marriage after the lapse of 10 years.

i understood that- i was just making a reference to the 10 years. I think that it is interesting that's all. Why 10? personally i don't think the courts should have any say on how long a couple is legally together exept for that couple. Just one more thing the government is trying to regulate. It isn't right.

The sanctity of the marriage will no longer be honored. Marriage will become like the marriages being seen in the Hollywood. This will result to a more chaotic society.

If this bill will become a law, the children will surely suffer emotionally knowing that they will have a broken family after 10 years.

I agree with the pastor guy...it IS against the will of God. This would solve a lot of problems for some people, but it would create problems for some as well. It would wreak havoc on the life insurance and health insurance industries...

Howdy. It is completely against the will of God and the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Bible. No edict of man dissolves a marriage. People need to know what they are doing before they get married, and realize it is a commitment for life. I hope and pray this bill fails. Also, marriages would be more solid if people would commit to the Lord Christ.
