I just saw a game that had 96 shots in regulation and yet needed a shootout! The Devils played the rangers in Ny and they finally won in a shootout! While the Caps- Lightning game had so many goals I lost track! It was 7-4 Lightning! My question? what type of hockey game do you prefer? A shooting fest or a goalie duel? Me. I love a goalie duel, Each shot Could be the one to break the scoreless tie! That exciting. It is what makes hockey so great.

I like the goalie duel too. Remember the Dallas game a couple of years ago it went on for hours..(no shootouts.) I loved that game. And because a tenth of a second can make a difference in a hockey game it is exciting watching the goalies get more intense as the game goes on. They can't let anything slip or it's over.

Dallas has been known for that over the years. The last three times the Stars have had made the playoffs they have gone to a third overtime at least 4 times. People complain about how long these games go and how they get boring, but I beg to differ. Every shot is nail biting. You hate to be the team that comes away with nothing after essentially playing two games in one but thrill of victory is so huge for the team that comes away with it. Though it cost Dallas two years ago when they ran into Detroit in the Conference Finals. To this day I still honestly believe that Detroit vs. Pittsburgh part one would have been Dallas vs Pittsburgh had it not been for those long overtime games the Stars endured against some very tough opponents, but especially the game against San Jose. But that's part of playoff hockey. You have to have the skill and ability to win 16 games and you also need to survive the up-tempo physical play and the potentially long, grinding, punishing games. If you've only got one then it can only take you so far. The Stanley Cup is by far the toughest trophy in all the major sports leagues to win IMO.

I saw this game too! And saw Elias score the winning shootout goal in the 4th round. I like a goalie duel myself. The only downside about goalie-duels is that after regulation the players sometimes get so scared of making a mistake so they clam up. Knowing that if they did, the other team might score and end the game. But from a fan perspective, an all or nothing game is great!

Didn't this feel like a playoff game? It was the best game I have seen this season. I didn't want it to end. Call me a purist but I hate shoot outs . I don't mind a game like this ending in a tie.
