why do people lie with out any reason?

I guess, for some people, it's something that is amusing to do. It is a hobby, I guess. I suppose that some of them can't help but lie. I really can't say for sure, as I don't really lie, but these are just some thoughts, some theories as to why some people may lie for no real apparent reason.

There are certainly going to be many point of views on this. I believe that people lie for self benefits. Over a year ago, I was chatting to a lady for not quite 2 weeks. The conversation got quite open. I asked her if she was ok with it. She said that she was. There was even a time she asked me a question. I answered it. With her response, I thought she was quite pleased and excited over the answer. I thought great, I could talk to this woman about anything and everything. But what I didn't realise, she was gaining information to destroy my friendship with her partner who was my friend for 4 and half years. She lied to him about what was really said. This has upset me. I believe that she did it because she thought I was a threat to her. I had tried telling him the truth, but at the end of the day, he believes her and her lies. She did it to get her way. Since then, I have been suffering from depression because of what was said to him and what he thinks of me now. All I will say is that what he said was not true about me. It just shows he is too much in love her to see the real truth about me. After all he should be able to trust me telling him the truth, but what ever she said to him, he is unable to trust himself.

Well, there are many people, who lie without any reason, just because they like it. I also knew several guys which lie all the time and very often I don't know if they are telling the truth or they lie.

I think with a lot of people, they do not think that its lying. They have really convinced themselves that what they are saying is the truth. They have lied so often, that they have a distorted view of reality. Deep down, they may know they are lying. However, they are not about to admit it.

Lying isn't a good thing, but there are those who really don't know much better. They probably have been lied to so much they don't know the truth. Or, rather they don't what the truth is or means. It becomes a way of life, a vicious cycle. And, not one easily broken.

They simply lie without clear reason because they are just simply liers who are use of lying. I am irritated with liars.
