These are very interesting questions but the first one is more important than others.No doubt there are many sects in Islam like all other religions.There was no such sect in the beginning when the Muslims used to follow only the Holy Quran and the holy Sunnah/Hadith.With the passage of time,they started blind-following their own self-created IMAMS or religious leaders and diverted from the Holy Quran and the holy Sunnah.They are Shias,Dewbandis and Brelvies.They donot hesitate to indulge in Polytheism which is the biggest and the only unforgivable sin as per the holy Quran.I believe that the only Muslims who strictly adhere to the basic teachings of Islam(Quran and Sunnah) are today known as AHLE HADITH,who are mostly found in Arab countries.They do not blind-follow any non-prophetic personality and would only prefer the holy Quran and the Holy Sunnah.They are the true Muslims as they do not indulge in Polytheism and hate worshiping of graves and monks.......And I have also converted to these true Muslims.......

The Prophet Muhammad PBUH once said: I left among you two things that if you hold firmly to them you will never be misguided: the Book of Allah (the Holy Quran) and the Sunnah of His Prophet. there are many sects in Islam, but not All of them hold firmly to the Quran and the Sunnah, Shia sect was created by a Jew Abdullah Ibn Sabaa who converted to Islam not because he wanted to embrace Islam as His religion but He wanted to harm it from the inside, one of The main beliefs among Shia sect is that the Message of Islam was supposed to come Through Ali (the Prophet Muhammad's cousin) but it come to Muhammad, as If it was SMS to the wrong number LOL of course there other deviated sects That follow Other people claimed to be prophets, conflicting with the Quran and the Sunnah, Because Both of them Clearly say the Muhammad is the Last of Prophets, and no Other Prophets will come after him, Except Jesus Christ will come again to accomplish his Mission. to summarize, we are not in the position to Judge which sect is right and which is wrong, since it is up to Allah Alone, But we Have standards that make you easily determine which sect follow the straight path according to the Quran and the Sunnah as mentioned in the Hadith above. what does Islam think about other religion? The Holy Quran is Clear in this regard, Every one Believe in God and do Good Deeds God will accept him and he will be rewarded for his good Deeds; [002:062] Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right - surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. as you see, it is up to any one since he Believe in God and do good deeds, If you asked the Jews they will tell you that Only Them are the Chosen people of the God, Christians will also tell you that Only those who accept Jesus as Lord ans Savior will be saved, but of course This is not true, Because there is Good and Bad People among people of any religion and every one will be judged Only according to his actions. why in Islam asking about metaphysics( like where is Allah, what is soul, etc) is prohibited? This is not true, Requesting knowledge is a duty of every Muslim Male and Female according to sayings of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, What is prohibited is asking about Things that Belong to Allah alone, and no one is able to provide you with answers regarding it, such as the time of the Hour(the day of judgment) and regarding the Spirit All of these things Belong to God alone, If you want to ask about them Feel free to ask But you will ask forever since no one know about them. Islam has personal god, hasn't it? This Point is not Clear, What do you mean by personal god ? I don't get your point, However God in Islam is the God of All Humanity every one have a direct relation with the God since no Priesthood in Islam, everything is between you and God Directly, you confess to God, Pray to God, repent to God, seek the reward for your good actions from God, ask god directly for forgiveness Etc. But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]." And bear witness that "We are Muslims" The the sects in Islam should not have happened, however there are many, most of them have similar things differ only in few thing except in shia. This happens because of human nature and also with less knowledgeable people just follow Islam like what they see just around them from parents, friends and society rather than from the real Islamic texts. You may find many 'so called Muslims', many of them really do not understand the real flavor of Islam and just are Muslims because of Culture. You can see many so called scholars as well, they are just the preservers of the culturally practiced things by Muslims rather than real Islamic teachings it is not the right way of Islam. One should follow the real Islam as instructed by God. Judge Islam by Islam not by the so called followers as you judge a Car with its quality and features rather than the driver of it. We had a real driver shown Islam practically that is Prophet Mohammad, from him we have to learn driving Islam. So a real believer should go with Quran and the traditions of Prophet Mohammad. not with the sects that we see around. If the groups almost agree with the basics of Islam, then there is no harm to work together towards the betterment of society and Islamic matters as long as it goes it with Quran and traditions of Prophet Mohammad. 2. A Muslim should respect other religious followers, should not put down symbols of others and should not demolish their prayer houses. You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah ; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. [Quran 5:82] [u]Those with Faith, those who are Jews, and the Christians and Sabaeans, all who have Faith in Allah and the Last Day and act rightly, will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow." [Quran2 :62] [/u] "God does not forbid you to act considerately or to act fairly towards those who have never fought you over religion nor have evicted you from your homes. God loves the fair minded. God only forbids you to be friendly with those who have fought you over religion and evicted you from your homes and who helped others in your eviction. Those who befriend them are wrongdoers." (60:8-9) [u] Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. We cannot confine Allah merely within his created universe. Allah is eternal not bound to anything created by him. Quran says his throne of dominion is above all the heavens. It probably a way of explanation of his power, How exactly we have no knowledge about it. Regarding souls we have only very limited information: When one forms in womb souls will be sent the body and when they die the souls will be taken back and will be there some where in some special dwelling places provided by God. 4. I don't know what a personal God is. God is the creator, the one and only Creator of the universe, creator of humankind and sustainer of everything. He is the all powerful having knowledge of everything. He knows about us than we know about ourselves. Human being is created to know their creator. May Almighty Allah Guide us to the right path. 1. Not only in islam but also in other religions might have many sects, for instance: christian in indonesia, there exists sect namely panti kusta, jawi wetan, bethany etc. I know it b'coz my grand mom is a christian n she ever moved from ceratin sect to other sect. However, I'm a muslim. Sects in islam that is admitted n exist is b'coz they have different mazdab (opinion), manhaj (way), harokah (movement), n management of organization. They are in one faith, believe in one God n believe the same prophets(several prophets that we believe in) as well as have one holy Qur'an. They have the same TAUHID. Islam is not very strict in Muamalah, otherwise islam is VERY TOLERANT in muamalah, opinion, n everything out of tauhid. The most principle is tauhid, it is as our identity n the basic of faith. 2. Islam is very very tolerant to other religions but we have our own Principle. U can ask Ustad in indonesia for the explanation about Lakum dinukum waliyadin (my religion is mine, ur religion is yours). We let non-muslim worship in save and as the way they worship. It's prohibited for us to disturb them, even we should make them save when they worship. That is the content of islam. But nowadays, there are lots of conspirator from others who don't like islam. they try to break the islam value, rules, n paradigm. They even use in the name of islam in breaking its value, the fact they do against islam. 3. Sorry i can't explain it well in english but if u understand bahasa indonesia and don't mind to chat via email, i'll explain it very well via private massage here. However, i try to say in english. It is not strictly prohibited to talk about metaphysic. Even in Qur'an, describes about Allah(e.g. that Allah isn't man either woman), paradise, hell, n another invisible stuffs. Qur'an describe it textually. It's just PROHIBITED to describe them visually b'coz it's not like their visually description/painting/drawing. B'coz what they describe is extremely different from the fact, whereas we don't know the fact yet. We'll know it when hereafter(akhirat). 4. We believe in Allah as The Creator, The Almighty, The Gracious n so on (Rabb Al-Amin), and we call it as GOD(it's definitely in general,not personal). Also, we believe in Allah as "ILLAH" in which we worship and dedicate our life just for Allah(GOD). This explanation doesn't mean that Allah is more then one. ALLAH is Single(One). It just means that Allah is God (Rabb Al-Amin) and ILLAH (who we worship for). Let's take an analogy "A man whose profession is doctor but he is also a science researcher". That man has two functions as a doctor n science researcher. Generally, we call both Titles (Al-Amin and ILLAH) as God. Okay Sairam, i suggest u to ask the expert of islam (Ulama) about islam religion in order to get the right explanation. B'coz it's very risky to ask one who is not expert in it, they might be wrong or even deliberately give u the wrong explanation or might act as if they knew it whereas they don't know it. There are lots of ulama in indonesia, u can ask them to get detail n right explanations. -Good Luck-
