There are lots of homeless people in our country. The government is always trying to help such poor people who do not even have a shelter.
But in our country the number of such people is a lot and so, it is not really that easy for us to get them off the streets and provide homes for them. But we are working hard. Maybe someday, in the future we can proudly say, that every man in our country has a shelter over their head.

Hi!
I live in Sofia, Bulgaria. There are houses with rooms especially for the homeless people. So there's a way, but most of them prefer not to use them. Why? Ask them, I can't understand them. We have lots of homeless people slapped by life. The interesting is that most of them live under the city where the warm pipes are! Warm pipes - I mean, the pipes of the central heating.

I'm from Canada but live in the U.S now and yes both countries have homeless ppl..In fact I would imagine that EVERY country has a homeless population of one degree or another...
Does the U.S and Canada help the homeless...yea but IMO not nearly enough...The government AND the ppl/society of both countries only does enough to make it look good if that makes sense....Speaking from personal experience I think that MUCH MORE should be done AND ppl need to IMO be properly educated on the subject too because I firmly believe that is a huge part of the problem...

Yes we have homeless here. There are charities that try to help them providing shelters and even more long-term housing solutions and help finding jobs, etc.
What bugs me is that we have around a million empty homes in this country. Everything from small bedsits to huge mansions that are unused. Sometimes there might be a reason that a house has fallen into disuse but often it is someone property speculating or just don't care because they are rich and have somewhere to live so they don't need the money from selling the house or rent it out. They can "afford" to own empty houses!

I too am in the US and here locally we have the Salvation Army that has a homeless shelter as well as the Daily Planet. The churches also set up on a week to week basis CARITAS to allow the homeless to have a place to stay. Each of these organizations help by giving a place to stay, warm food and clothing if it is available. CARITAS also has a program that has people come in and teach reading and other life skills in order for the homeless to have a chance to improve their situation.

I too live in the states, but where I live in Florida you don't see it as much unless you know where to look. As for helping the homeless, I don't. The closest I got was when a kind lady paid for food for a homeless man. I didn't mind giving it to him, and it was paid for, so I wouldn't have gotten trouble for it.

Something you said jumped out at me. The key phrase that caught my attention was "was living in the woods". Now granted, being homeless is never good. But I suppose if I was going to be homeless, that's where i'd rather try to carve out a living, in the woods. On a city street, it is almost impossible to find propper shelter, warmth, food and general security. In the woods, I could survive. I know how make hunting weapons, track animals, gather food, build shelter, make fire, find water and protect myself. If I was close enough to some form of civilzation, I could scavange items and tools, gather discarded materials. I would utilize everything out there to my best advantage and probably wind up more comfortable than I would be in a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. Up here, there are people who would view this as almost a preferable way of life to the day to day drudgery, its diffiult, but some find it satisfying. While I wouldbn't nessesarily find it preferable to having an apertment of my own house, I could do it and I would probably be ok.
I live in a pretty rural part of the country. We do have homeless people, though not nearly as many as one finds in more urban areas. But in this area, it's extremely rare you find someone living off the streets. It's a lot of small towns and everyone knows someone. Homeless here either wind up staying with someone,in a shelter, whih is more like a group home rather than a night shelter....or survive in the woods on the land of friends, family, or just any path of wildreness out of the way enuogh.
I guess it's just the mentality and way of thinking up here. People are more geared towards survival and self preservation. It also helps that we are so rural and there are resources that can be utilzed if you know a little about it.

Yeah I also live in the United States and there are plenty of homeless people here. I'm pretty sure that there's easily homeless people all over the world and it's a really unfortunate thing to see. It's weird because in a lot of the bigger cities you see old run down buildings that are being used for anything. Why don't we let the homeless have those worthless abandoned buildings?
Maybe they could fix it up and it would be a nice place to live in. It's hard to think up a solution to ending the problem of homelessness but we should try and start employing some ideas or thoughts.

I have lived in New York, Florida and in North Carolina and in every area there are homeless people who refuse to go to these shelters. One man who goes to our church (since it is around the corner from a shelter and right on the main street, told us that if you are high or drunk they will throw you out on the street. They will let you in only if you are sober. Many people just cannot give it up - even for just one night. It is very sad.

where you go thee are a lot of people without of home
but the problim if we think about them. all of countries have good money to let these people have a place to live in.
but the sin of all countries are building hotels , huge building and loose alot of money in several ways and no one thinking about homeless.
the best thing islam approve that eny body have about 2000$ must bay 2.5% of them to poor people, in the past when the people pay this fee ( called zakak) all of the people have every thing. but in these days some sick guys not work with this rule more poor humans appear more and more.

I am from Philippines, and a lot of people here are homeless. You can see them living in the street , under the bridge or in the park. There are non government organizations who help them in terms of food and clothing, some also are lucky enough to have helped by other private sectors to have their own home. In different countries in the world , there are a lot of people who are homeless.Philippines alone , there were so many families, children that you can see sleeping in the street, parks, and even under the bridge and cemetery, as long as they have a place to sleep that is they called their home it doesnt matter whether or whatever place is it ,.

Hi there Java09!
We have many homeless people here in the Philippines. They leave on the streets, under the bridge, in shanties, and/or in front of some buildings, etc. Our government is doing its best to keep them off the streets but after a while, they go back. For example, the government provides shelter for them through housing projects. Some of these homeless are awarded a space in those housing facilities. But what they do is receive the awarded domicile then later on sell it to other people or have them rented out then they go back to the streets.

I live in the U.S. and I have been homeless before! I even had kids and I was broke! Some homeless shelters have a policy, where you can stay their for a week. It's almost impossible to find a job, get a paycheck, and find a place to live in a week. I was lucky enough to have family to take me in. Some people don't have that. Some homeless shelters are scary and they have mean people! If I was ever homeless again, I rather pitch a tent, than living in a shelter!

Yes!! I do feel sorry for them. I will surely try to help them,if I get a chance ever. Some really led a pathetic life. There are so many homeless people in our country. It is very common on the urban areas. Many of our poor live under bridges, terminals of bus, railway and ferry/launch,on wooden carts, public cemeteries, etc. There are many foundations, government sponsored organizations and as well as religious organizations who are helping these homeless acquire their place to live in a decent home.

I too live in the United States and yes I must agree that there are alot of homeless people here especially in the state and city that I am living now which is Texas. There are many shelters here to help the homeless in getting them off the streets and getting back to a good life in finding a job or whatever. There was even that time the shelters had opened up their doors when it was really cold here to allow anyone to come in with promises of not turning anyone away. But I think here they do try their best in homeless people, they just have to take advantage of the things that are offered to them in helping them, if that is what they want. Most homeless people would rather be homeless though then receive any kind of help.

Hiya Java09,
There are many homeless people in Spain right now some have shelter for the night but many do not. These are people that have themselves caught up in the crisis just through losing their Jobs and Houses they donĀ“t have the slightest idea what to do next well who would have? Some become Street Savvy and live out there on the Streets others are not so strong and they really suffer.

Yes, we really have a LOT of homeless people in my country. But most of them are from other countries and it is not easy to support your people and the immigrants as well. It causes a LOT of tension and it is strating to become a very big problem. We can only help so much people, and this is going to sound so rude, but would you rather help your countrymen than immigrants. There is only so much you can do and more. But somewhere in the near future, there has to be a better life for all.
