I would definitely say, the books! I actually saw the first movie late, this past July, so I came very late, like I do to a lot of popular things, because I don't like to get into something *just* because it is the latest craze. Well, as soon as I saw Twilight, I knew that I HAD to read the books! I wanted more. So I ordered the complete saga, got it the first week of August, and finished before the end of August! I LOVE the movies, but the books give so much more character development and history. I especially love reading the history behind the Cullens, especially Carlisle, he has such an interesting history, because as a human he was born in a totally different time and place, and was born as a vampire under such different terms than the rest of the Cullens. I love the books also because there are so many humorous moments, but also times when I feel like crying.
Most of all, while reading the books I actually almost get a picture in my head of how the movie will be. That wasn't the case with Twilight, because I saw the movie first, but the rest of them it is more the case, especially New Moon! When I saw the movie, all I could think is, this is exactly how I pictured it! I like how they have a different director for each movie. I love the first one, but, I definitely feel like New Moon stayed truer to the book. I do like what they did with Twilight, but once I read the book, all these things stood out to me as things that I wish would have been a part of the movie.
So I would definitely say the books, but, never pass up a chance to watch the movies. To me, the movies are a complete visual experience to complete the whole Twilight experience. If you have watched the movies, and still feel like you want to know more, the books are definitely great. I usually can't get through books, especially as thick as these books are, but they held my attention constantly, for hours and hours, for 2.5-3 weeks!
I can't wait for Eclipse, and I really hope that they make Breaking Dawn--I've heard that could be made into 2 movies, and I think it would have to because it is a huge book, with a ton of action. Breaking Dawn is actually my favorite in the series. Although, I cried when I finished. I really don't see how they could, not make that movie, as good as New Moon did and as good as I'm sure Eclipse will do in June, but I know there hasn't been any official word on Breaking Dawn, so I'm guessing it will be at least late 2011 before that is released, if they do make it.

Twilight book is still much better because its in detailed scenes and you'll use your imagination... Twilight movies were hype because of the actors portraying in the movies...

I have seen the two movies released and was not overly impressed with either. They seemed a little but weak overall. I have not as yet read the books but believe they must be better than the movies.

oh the books definately. THe movie just leaves so much out and then they have to fix certain problems that they have cut and it makes for a different kind of story.
although I wasn't too fond of the Twilight i got more into it when I read New Moon. But eclispe is my favorite of all of them. It seems like everything meshes in that book. Breaking Dawn was kinda corny until after she is turned- sorry if that is a spoiler for you but I figured it was obvious since that is the last book in the series and you know it was going to have to happen eventually.
I was a huge edward fan in the beginning but after I reread the books i realized he is way over protective and intrusive. while Jacob is more carefree and fun loving even if he has devoloped a bit of a temper.

I've neither seen the movie nor read the books, but it's usually been my experience that the book is always better than the movie. With books you get to see the action any way your imagination takes you. The director controls the action in a movie. Also, because of time restrictions, the movies have to edit some things out.

Definitely, the books. I saw the movie Twilight first before finishing the book. I thought it was okay, totally understandable why such the hype. Then I read New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, before the second movie was released. I was a bit disappointed because it didn't live up to what I had expected. The books made my imagination go further, while the movie was weak. Well, I agree with you, the books are usually better...that's why they are made into movies in the first place.
