Who can tell me how long is a dog's life?

I raised a small dog in six years ago.It is very cute,obedient.I am very fond of him,and whenever I went to a place,he had followed behind me,like my bodyguard.if i do not agree with him to follow me,i just can be a sign, he immediately left,as if we do not need to communicate between .But unfortunately,he's died a few days before,without any signs of illness,the doctor told me that he had been old,but i do not believe i wanted him back to life.
Who can tell me,the dog's life is how long?thanks

It depends of it's size. Big dogs like German Shepherd or Pitt Bull usually lives 10 to 12 years. Small dogs like Fox or Pintcher usually lives 12 to 16 years. I've seen very small dogs that lives 20 years!!!!!!!! But it depends of dogs habits, of food, of exercises, of life quality too!!!
