All ye pet lovers and pet owners! You see, I already have two local dogs at home who are quite close to me. I feed them and take care of them like real members of my family. However, my uncle is sending us his labrador which is a year old because he will be leaving for the US and could not anymore take care of it. The labrador is very huge but sweet and friendly. However, I am afraid that our two native dogs might be jealous and fight with the new dog. How do you avoid this? The lab will be arriving tomorrow in a carrier by plane. I am really anxious as to how to introduce this new pet to my two-year-old dogs, one of which is a very jealous kind of dog. Any helpful tips would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

separate them, of course at first they met, they will automatically fight, just like roosters in a cockfight...give them time to adjust each other. after a week or two, try to bring them close, observe how they react, then if you noticed that they adjusted, then you can let them mingle.

It is certainly not going to be an easy task especially if one is more dominate. It certainly would take time. I don't know what type of yard that you have but a suggestion would be to fence part of the yard off so that way you can put one dog is one section and the others in another. They can still see each other. They will need to be feed at the same time, and given equal attention or giving the dominate one just a little bit more. If you can may be even at the same time. If the dogs don't like water, get yourself a water soaker. If they fight, you may be able to use the water soaker on them. But the best advice would come from a dog obedience trainer or even a vet. But then again, the dogs may surprise you and get along fine. I would recommend any advice that people give here if it may help you. But remember, it will take time.
