how did your parents motivated you as a kid

The way our parents motivated us a kid has a very significant effect on how we are motivated now as an adult. As a child we are easily influenced and what we see and hear are easily implanted on our mind. We can't deny the fact that somehow it become a part of our personality. As a child, my parents encourages me on my interest and my studies. They supported me every time I participated on games(chess & volleyball). As for my studies, if i got an honor they will give me money still combined with words of encouragement. How about you?
