What is the most peaceful and calming place you have been to? It is near your home or is it some special place which you con't veset often, but when you go there you feel reborn? I love my mauntains and my rocks and I am at peace with myself alone in the woods... however, I go there rarely now and I miss it. The most peaceful place I've been to was the Russian Church in Bulgaria. I don't know what was so special about it: was it the chirch itself, or was it the surrounding nature. Or maybe I was in such mood... I don't know what it was, but it was calming and nice What about you? do you have a special place, where you can take a break from your problems and where everything seems insignificant compared to what you experience at the moment?

HI! I haven't been to many places, but i think it was the Dryanovo monastery! It was very lovely there, the silence and the calmness of that place are really lovely! I am from Bulgaria too!

In which town is that church, actually?

All it is the Golden church. I was in Shipka, but haven't got the opportunity to see it

hi thewayis, i have a very cool place me and my very close friend hang out at, it's a small hill, takes around 2 hours to climb and after that it looks so beautiful from up there, the hill is near the seashore and after climbing there we could see the vast ocean, looks so beautiful and all we can hear is the breeze, there are not many trees out there to block the view from up there, only lot many bushes which sometimes becomes a challenging part coz they are the obstacles blocking us at times, the last time i had been there with my friend and a friend more from Germany, we had such a nice time out there, had a bonfire and stayed till sunset and them came the challenging part, to climb down in the dark, the steep is almost zero so no problems with that but thorns and bushes and stones and all, that night there was moonlight so it got all the more interesting and had lots of talks on various issues and had a pretty nice time out there on the top where we could see the ocean and the harbour .. it is such a peaceful place to hang around there, just a few kilometres away from home, need to come to the beach and trek up there, all part of the fun!.. nice discussion.! have a nice day thewayis.

Now I am envious... That never happened to me. I love mountains and I love sea, but I was never able to combine them. To be on a hill and to see the ocean... I will dream about it for a bit.

There is this little known hill station which is about 300kms, from my town. It is known as Yercaud. I was a member of holiday resort which had its building there. I used to go there, and always felt refreshed after staying there for a couple of days. The biggest plus point was the rooms were built on a hill top, and from the verandah you can see the entire plateau. This place always made me feel at peace.

4 large waterfalls at the same place?!? It does sound breathtaking. I love waterfalls, but I have seen only three that coud be consider large. It means that you have seen more waterfalls in one place than I have seen in total

I have been in three places in my life where I have felt the nearness of the trascendental. I was not seeking for that feeling so it was more surprising and awesome. The first time was in the Atacama Desert, in my country, Chile. It is the dryest desert in the world and you can only see the rocks, the sand and the sun. The sky hugs you in a very incredible way. The next time I felt that was at Saint Peter church in the Vatican. I looked up at the main dome from the indide and saw those letters "Tu est Petrus" and I felt a shiver of understanding for just a second. The experience was so important to me that I was not impressed by the Sixtine Chapel or even La Pieta. The same thing happened to me when I went to the Mesquite in Cordoba, Spain. You could feel the millions that has prayed there for centuries. They were there. My husband was awed by the beautiful arab art but I was in another world.

I've never been in a desert, but I have always wanted to. I know that most people don't consider it pleasant, but there is some fascination in being alone in the sand... I don't like heat, though so it would be a problem I've never been to the Vatican, too, but it is on my "to-visit" list

The most peaceful place I have been to is the beach near my cousin's house. I used to visit her for months in the summer just to go there nearly every day. I'm a water baby; I love to swim, especially in the ocean. I love waves. It is also very beautiful with the sun shining off of the water or dipping beneath the waves as the day ends. The white noise the waves create can also be very relaxing, and I love to just lay on a towel in the sand and feel the warmth of the sun. Unfortunately, I have not been there in three years. I have been to other beaches, but not nearly as often as I used to get to go.

It does seem like a nice place to be. I hope you could go there again soon. I always miss the sea and I try to go there every year, even if it is just for work. Nothing compares to the atmosphere of an emty beach... you feel like you own the world

In my home country Folkestone is the most special place that I used to visit. It has two ocean beaches, a cliff railway that goes down the steep cliff and a sub tropical style garden. A short walk away is a rural beach, the best campsite for views and a path along the coastline. Above is a national park. Now I live in a different area I like to go to Brean Head and Sand Point. Brean Head is land that juts out into the sea. It has superb views on both sides. Sand Point is similar and also has gorgeous views. I go to those places to think about things happening in my life.

Sea side is also great place to relax. I like it when there is noone there... at night or in the winter. In the hot summer days it is just too crowdy. Cliffs are great... when I watch my hometome from my favorite cliff (and the whole town could be seen from there) I feel like I am unreachable and still I can reach everybody. But there was this one time when young couple thought that I was about to jump from the cliff and they spoiled my mood

The most peaceful place for our family is a nature reserve that is here in town. We like to go out there to hike because it is one of the few places that is close to here that people haven't had the opportunity to destroy nature. Once you've hiked the trail for a couple of miles, there is an overlook where you can sit and look at the river below. It is absolutely beautiful and there aren't a lot of people there so it is a good place for us.

There is this sea shore just a few minutes ride from my place It is not frequented by people per se as it is not developed but just sitting there and watching the waves and even the sun set gives such a calming effect- an ideal place for meditation and to just to be with yourself and the sea.

It does sound like a nice, peaseful place. I wish the seaside was closer to me, because as it is now I can only go once a year and only for a few days

For me, the most peaceful place is stay with my family at home, talking with my dear mother and see her knitting a sweater. Many years passed, when I become older and older, I still believe this memory is nice and warm, I keep it in my heart just like a valubale thing.

The only think I don't like in your description is "everybody knows everybody" part. It would seem like a great place to relax, but I would never stay at such place for a longer period

The most peaceful place i have been to is at the top of a mountain near my friends house. The only problem we have to encounter is that we have to hike just to get there but it's worth it. I don't care if i have to hike everyday just to get there, at least i get an exercise. Once i have been there, it takes all my problems away. The beautiful view of my hometown just takes my breath away. It makes me forget the rest of the world and just be in a serene peace with nature.

I've been to a lot of places but still the most peaceful and calming place for me is our home. When I have a problem or something is worrying me I don't want to be alone. I want to be near with the people who are always there for me and who would listen to my problem and will give me advice and comfort that I need.

I often visit the beach nearby which does something (unexplainable) to me. I feel light after I come back from that place. I prefer to visit the place when it is least crowded. One thing I have learnt is that nature does a lot to us which we appriciate little.
