I'm afraid i dowloaded a virus. I can get on this computer, as you can see- but i cant get into some important websites, such as that i'm not able to sign in to my own blog! This is going on since yesterday morning. And it's not that these websites are down because i asked someone to see if he could get on those websites from his computer and he was able to. We tried runing a virus scan and it didnt help. Any ideas??

Since you can still get on download microsoft security essentials...it is free. run and then set to real time. Then run malware bytes (free) and then Ccleaner which clears out all those things like ie temp history etc.. and fixes the registry as well. These have been a life saver to me. I also use super anti-spy which picks up what Malwarebytes does not. All are free and great and believe me I have downloaded so many trojans that I can't keep count. Currently I upgraded my Malwarebytes so it was on real time along with microsoft security essentials.

The microsoft security essentials is running now. I hope to try all of what you said and we'll see what happens :)

well the microsoft essentials hasnt worked. I tried downloading malwarebytes but couldnt do it, possibly because this computer is in bad shape, and the Ccleaner didn't work either :( But something strange happened. I am alone in the house now and was just in my kitchen. All of a sudden i heard some strange noises-like someone else was home. I thought maybe the cat knocked something over. When i went to check, the printer had suddenly started working and began printing something that it had refused to print yesterday. I was hoping that if the printer came to life again, maybe this computer had been revived as well. But no such luck...

I would suggest that you restore your system from disk...or if you can do it from your pc while it is running and use an earlier restore date. I have never seen the three freewares not work before.

well it may be because your internet connection is down. check your internet connection. and one thing very important.....never ever log into important sites when you are in doubt of a virus attack,it can be a spy ware it will take your password and send it to the hacker.all you precious information will go to him all your accounts may be hacked...assuming it is a spyware. if you are sure that it is a virus, you may well go for reinstalling windows.

what message does it give when you try to log in??? it is not blocked because you can access the site but only can not log in..right?? first of all ,if you are sure about the virus ,you can go for reinstalling OS from backup cd or somethin try updating antivirus database and then scan try installing zone alarm firewall (free version, not the pro version, only for xp not vista)(only xp) it denies access to any program to internet asks you for permission. before you try these check your internet speed from any website you want then reply!!!

Ohhhhh-thanks for telling me. I will have to be careful. Here's the thing- my internet connection is NOT down. I am online right now typing away right here. It is that i cant get into some websites. Like i cant even sign into my own blog. Like i said above-i know that my blog website is not down because someone else was able to get into it from his computer. There are other websites i cant get into either. Some i could and some i cant. I figure it's a virus but who knows??

Hi, I had that problem that I could not log-in my yahoo messenger. The technician did to your computer it access the your anti-virus system if you have or the firewall system of your computer. There are anti-virus that has firewall protection and it automatically block the websites or the log in of a certain if it detects a spy ware that time. The technician remove the block sites in your firewall settings.

you should install a good virus scanner program or anti virus and clean that virus as early as possible or else it will damage your pc.. if running virus scan also didnt helped then delete the file you downloaded from the net..
