Don't you just love these emotions?

I am not talking about emotions as feelings what I am talking about is these little faces we can use on the internet to express our emotions at the time or to imply them to other people. I used to dislike them in the beginning, because they seemed fake and creepy to me, but as I am a person who makes a lot of mimics when talking I hate this inability to express my current emotion via internet. When I started using the emotions I felt relieved. Somehow it is nice to when you are actually winking stupedly in front of the computer or to when you are actually holding both your hands with thumbs up. Or to when somebody is flattering you. Etc. etc. There are times when we use them too much and this is not so good, because the seriousness of the conversation is lost, however they have their plus sides and I really like using them when writing How about you?

I've always thought that emoticons are cute in discussions when you are on the internet because they give you the ability to express something that can't be otherwise expressed when you are on the computer. Believe it or not, I am a frequent user of them when I know how to use them. The thing is, I don't know how to use them on mylot because unlike other forums that I've used, there isn't a box where you can insert them and I'm not sure how the coding works to make them go. I think that would be a great suggestion for something to add to mylot with all of the improvements that we were talking to Alice about a few weeks ago. I may have to look up her discussions and add this.

Oh yes I love it. Lol. I'm excited to use it. I dont even need it sometime, but i will use it, I dont care how. But its not only about that. The emoticon itself has to be something to express what is your current emotion. Have you ever heard, that in a picture worth thousands of words. Thats what an emoticon are for. I'm in love with it. UNFORTUNATELY!!! I need 180 more posts so I can use it here. :(

You know, time is flying around here. You will not even notice how fast you've reached the 200 posts

Emoticons show your emotions! haha That is what I think they are called. Goes back to the ASCII text days before the graphic friends. ;o) I agree, there are some real classics out there and hundreds more than the choice we have here at Mylot.

Yeah, I know they are called emoticons... I was just thinking about the etimology of the word and than the thought of posting a discussion here hit me in the head. I decided to play with the words a little bit and you all understood be good, so, I think it is OK

expressing your emotions using such symbol is interesting. you can do it easily. one thing that i would like to say you can't express those emotions using word but those symbols of expression can help you do a little work. i don't do it here but i do it in other services.

I like the over-exaggerated-ness of the emoticons. They're fun. Even if we're not LITERALLY "laughing out loud" or blushing or rolling our eyes.. It's just an amped-up way of expressing our way of thoughts without.. saying it in words. I don't mind them. I do agree though that a lot of people I'm sure mis-use and abuse the privilege of being able to use emoticons (or whatever these things are called!) but I think that's part of the reason that we had to wait 200 posts (I think it is..) until we could use them.

Yes, just like we have to wait the 500th before we could copy/paste. I can't wait for that, because I have some things which I would like to share with you but they are already written and I am too lazy to write them again. So I am just waiting Thank you for your response, have a nice day

I like emoticons. They are a good way to get across a point. For example, if you are making a joke or being sarcastic, adding an emoticon can make the difference between a nice discussion or an argument. I have a bad habit of typing something that sounds rude, even if I don't mean for it to be, so they definitely help me out. Some are just so funny looking, too!

hi thewayis yes I really do as i can place them to show that the topic is making me happy or sad, or even angry. I can use them to show that I sympathize with the poster too. thereis so much you can do with these little faces that are so expressive. I love the the sleep one and the duh one too, and the neat one. Sometimes I have used the one meaning I surrender, and thats fun too. yes they can help us to be more expressive here.
