Today is the solar eclipse. In most of the parts, people can observe this. It is very dangerous to see the sun with naked eye. There are many filters available for this purpose. There are many myths about the solar eclipse. Here in India most of the people will eat before eclipse and will not keep any cooked food for consumption. We will take a bath after the eclipse and prepare the food. Do you follow such practices. If, what is the basis for that ? Any scientific reason for that ?

mdvarghese no in the US we do not harbor any myths about the solar eclipse, its just another happening in nature. no scientific reason for not eating during the eclipse this seems blatant superstition and soes not have any real base at all. old myths are hard to get rid of. We do not practiced this superstitious hooey at all, for thats all it is, hooey.

Hi..hately Thank you for your response in this discussion. May be it is a superstition but many people will follow some customs not to eat, will not come out from home, take a bath immediate after the eclipse. Have a nice day !!!!!

I am not aware of any practice such as yours, her ein our country. But i have seen in a movie long time ago about a solar eclipse and the people going to the beach after to take a swim. It is also part of a practice they do during a solar eclipse and i really don't know any scientific reason for that too.
