I am a fan of Bobby Fischer and I was sad that he did not defend his title against Anatoly Karpov for some reasons. I like Garry Kasparov too because of his brilliance. I was just wondering had the two met each other in a chess match, who would have emerged as the winner. Each has a unique style of play which make them both remarkable chessplayers. But, there has to be a winner. Who would that be? We have our own choices, don't we? Yes, I will pick ... Bobby Fischer. I think he has a little more than what Garry Kasparov has. Well, this is my opinion.

Yes, I like Bobby Fischer and he was one of the greatest in Chess history. And he was very good in playing simple chess yet effective. Kasparov was undoubtedly one of the most thoroughly prepared guy most of his career. His attacking and intimidating chess made opponents lose the match before it started! Such was his reputation and play.
And coming to the match of these two titans, I think it is difficult to compare as these guys are from different decades. Chess has changed a lot since Fischer's days and now Computer Analysis and preparation is what driving the chess world and preparations.
Nevertheless, the match between these two greats can be as exciting as anything can get in the Chess World!
Happy Mylotting!

Anyway, are you asking who will win when both are in the peak of their career? If that is the case, then it really becomes very difficult to answer. But if you ask me who will win when Kasparov was the champion while Fischer was already retired, I would immediately say it would be Kasparov. If you remember, when Bobby Fischer had a short comeback and played against Spassky, the game was a close contest, but if Kasparov at that time would play a match with Spassky, I'm sure it would be an overwhelming win for Kasparov. So if the condition is when both are in their pick? My answer would be....not sure :)

I have to agree with you, that Bobby fisher would have won against Kaspoarov. At the same time, if Fisher had played against Visvanathan Anand, it would have been a very tough match, the reason being both are fast players, and it would have been a very interesting game.
