Hi ybong, this is a question I have often asked myself, and to be honest, I have no idea. However, I estimate the percentage of my active friends would be under 20&, so that might be an indication.

Age doesn't matter as long as you feel young...I thought mipen was pertaining to the percentage of his active Filipino friends when he said 20%? I got confused there a bit

Hi Mipen2006. Mylot population says its more than 17 thousand. But i think that is based on all those who registered from the date this site started. I think it's not indicative on the actual number of active members. But it really doesn't matter. Mylot is a site for everyone. And your right about your mylot friends being on their 20s, well i'm on my mid 30's but i think i'm still on my 20's . Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!

If this is true... Congrats to the Filipino writers in mylot, we should invite more writers from the Philippines so that we can get it to the top..

I think we could invite starting writers only because I doubt we can invite professional Filipino writers to join mylot and be paid cents. You know the market, if you're labeled as a professional in any chosen field then it's highly probable that you would ask for high rates but I hope I'm wrong too

Correction hex, it's in dollars, and it's PHP46:US1. If you are a professional writer the chances of you earning more in mylot is bigger since it's already a given that all posts are of good quality which translates to bigger earnings. Besides, mylot would be a good way to solicit ideas for their columns. The good thing is they don't have to disclose who they really. But then again it's really up to them. But it's a welcome idea. Cheers!

Well that's bad news Kurono. Members usually reach payout in about their second or third month of membership in mylot. If you remained active in that two years time, you could have earned at least a hundred dollars already. But i'm sure you have your reasons. But welcome back, i hope you'll remain active. Let's earn together!!

hello ybong!
count me in! haha
but still we are far from the other two countries! they have a bout 38 thousand plus and the top rank have about 50 thousand plus...huh!
but any way, i think out of those 17 thousand, i guess less than a thousand is active! hehe
nice avatar...if i am not mistaken you are the one with tarsier avatar before right?

Your right ckyera. We have a long way to go even at third place. But still third is not bad. This means that a lot of Filipinos are becoming active online. It's good to know that you still remember my previous avatar. Actually, I want to hide my real identity as much as i can, until i decided that the world deserve to know who the real me is. What you're seeing is the real me and my name is...bong... jamesbong (just kidding). . Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!

I hope we could encourage more but sometimes they tend to be happy at the start and ended up being inactive in the end

never really put much thought about it until i came across your discussion. not really surprised since a lot of filipinos like chatting and sharing their thoughts and ideas about anything and everything under the sun.
about the actual number of filipino mylotters who are actually active, i my bet would be a little over 5% of the total number listed there. point it out to the age old pinoy trait of ningas cogon (did i spell it correctly? lol!). they will be so active at first when they signed up and then eventually lose steam and interest when they aren't getting the money that they expect. lol!
that's my bet though...5%.
hopefully, i'm wrong as it is nice to see a very large and active filipino contigent here in mylot!
cheers!!!

I dont really have an idea, my guess is even less than that. Well that's just based on those who post here on a regular basis. Most of them usually just come and go. I recall that there was an admin for day that happened in December where Alice started a few discussions and she responded to some discussions. I was not able to follow all the threads. I'm sure it would have been a good idea if someone asked the actual mylot population during the discussion. But regardless on how many we are, most of those who became members really had a ningas cogon attitude since it's really a turn off when you just earn a few cents after severals posts which usually happens when you're a newbie. Its sad that most of those who left did not get past that stage. But being on the top three is something to brag about already.

Internet access here is very much easy. If one have no computer in their home, there are always internet cafe just in every corner in the neighborhood. We are also know for our friendliness and are very sociable person. And the good thing is the our English is way much better than other countries in Asia.

I agree with you on that fulltank. Most of the time i thought the one who posted a discussion is a native english speaker until i take a look at their profiles. And viola! it's a Pinoy. But we must admit also that a lot of members here are professionals and have their own field of expertise. Just like a lot of members here who just visit to site regularly to express their thoughts and join discussions on their free time. Earning is just a bonus. Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!

wow, nice to learn about this that Filipinos are really active in terms of posting here at mylot. I have signed up here just recently, and I thought there are few Filipinos here. Well, good thing that we all have a way for people around the world to let them hear what we would like to say..right?

Yup, philippines is ranked 3rd of the mylot population which are more active. I believe in this because we filipinos love to connect...we are very warm people. We love to please people, we love to communicate and acquire friends. I don't know why but maybe it is part of our culture...with the bayanihan and the clanish families...we even consider our close friends as our second family. Filipinos are the best...i'm proud to be one.

Very well said hapsicordable. I guess we owe it to our being sociable people and that we love to interact with everyone. Sooner or later we will dominate the internet , but it depends on our internet connection. Just like, what i posted on one of contributors on this thread. I hope time will come that internet connection is so much more affordable that every household will one because this will give stay at home wives or husbands a way to earn on line with out sacrificing quality time with the family. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers!
