Its Gone!!!!! Its Gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!Era of One Liners in Mylot Gone

Every now and then i stumble upon some discussions which were started by our ancestors sorry Seniors in Mylot. To my surprise those simple discussions were quiet popular infact quiet hot too.they used to get around a minimum of 50 responses. Are you Eager to know---What was the hot topic about----"WHats your height?" Yeah the discussion was about height.Lets consider the host was lazy enough---so couldnt add few more lines to his discussion ended up with those three words---but how about the responders who made single line responses------i'm 5'8,hehe i'm taller than u and other simple answers which are quiet funny. The host never added a comment back at the boxes. In other words it was single way interaction. Good to see some new comers following their Ancestors polocies---they come up with single line commments and later come to know that you gotto follow the present rules to make few extra cents in here.hope they would learn quickly and start making quality posts and add some comments at their responders boxes. For the Old members in here---would you love to make your response so simple and short and have you ever felt boring to go through those never ending topics which carry---big and fat messages?have you ever left a discussion without making a response coz its too long to read coz by the time you read it you get to make two or three responses else in other simple ones?

Sunny! Your title gave me a shock! The ancestors or seniors - or even ANCIENT - myLotters might not be able to withstand certain outbursts and you should consider this when starting your posts. Some if us might be frail and posting with very rudimental means here and might even fall off our rocking chairs when reading such shocking headlines! Yes, I have noticed too that a lo of garbage is being removed to where it rightfully belongs. Seems it took a long while to get to it under ll the cobwens but some are certainly relics that we do not have to be reminded of. I am a chatterbox and have no problems typing out long posts. Whether everyone wants to read them is not often a question I ask myself as they have freedom of choice and can choose to move on. I respond where I find something interesting which might be a short post but is usually a longer one with something to get my teeth into (or should I say 'dentures'? )

hey Diana---i dont see any change in your profile pic--its the same old thinking cap with rolling eyes .may be i should come up with a bigger surprise rather than a shock in the coming days so be prepared for it. yeah you made a big post in here and i'm finding it hard to keep track of it chatterbox but i cant ignore either coz i fall under your category it must be really hard to clean up the garbage offlate in here---i managed to catch a glimpse of three which disappeared within a split of a second.good work by Alice.she keeps it tidy.

Yup Lamb! I was on from work and saw what she was doing - GREAT! I used the time to catch up with comments on my own discussions and I think it's fantastic that someone official is here to answer those queries! Sunny I am very quick at pullung myself together again and that is why youdidn't notice any difference So what's up your sleeve - will we have to wait long?

I've been spending some ten to twenty minutes of my time in this particular discussion and every box tends to be very interesting. I hate that I have to go somewhere now that I've decided to have my own box in this discussion without finishing reading those very interesting responses. I think I'll just have to catch up later. I'm glad with what mylot is doing now. I could only hope that the majority would be eager to write quality discussions. I was guilty of making discussions that was answerable only by yes or no but I tried hard to be very descriptive in there and somehow encourage people to explain why but in the end those who responded where only reading the title and then respond. Those discussions of mine have reach about 40 to 50 responders but only few had good answers."Are you taking a bath everyday?" I started a discussion with that title because I want see how practices in my country differs from others and tried an engaging approached and avoided being a one liner. When I comment I start a follow up question but only few bites the bait and engaged. In the end I got bored of my own discussion because majority of the responses are without substance. I suggest we should create a discussion with a very engaging and "attention catcher" titles because some only reads the title and respond aimlessly. I also would like to add that mylot should really delete those discussions made during the glitch. Those discussions that cannot be responded because the response button is nowhere to be found

What "glitch" are you talking about, Hexeduser22? When did this glitch happen? I have not encountered any discussions that I haven't been able to respond to. Every discussion that I have seen has had a "respond to this discussion" button. Are you able to rate or report the discussions that were affected by the glitch? Maybe if these discussions were reported not as violations but to bring awareness to the myLot Admins that it is not possible to respond to them, then they might be able to be fixed without having to delete them. I am sure that the original posters of the discussion would appreciate it if people helped to report them to get them fixed instead of having them deleted or kept out there without people being able to respond to them. If I get one or two line responses to my discussions, then I also try to engage the responder and get them to answer more by asking additional questions. Sometimes it works, and other times it does not. When it does work, however, these can be some of the more interactive response boxes in the discussion. Sometimes people want to respond more, but they might be shy, especially if they do not know the original poster of the discussion very well. If you make an effort to follow-up and engage in conversation, though, then they open up and will have fun or give good suggestions on a topic or just give some additional insight that you might not have thought of yourself. Sometimes the one or two line responses can turn into a good discussion if you make the effort to engage the person in conversation.

haha if one wants to enjoy or barge into a box then he gotto read all the comments but if we're for the funny part going through those make it funny man and i get to see you in all the boxes. Its quiet normal for everyone to comeup with some silly questions infact you would never find a single mylotter who can admit that he didnt ever come up with atleast one useless discussion.its all part of the learning process---some get recognised thats it. I still remember that Bath discussion---so you take your bath every three days--i had a good time going through it

@PA i dont think any mylotter is so shy that they back off without express their feelings---in this virtual world you dont have to be really shy i guess.i get to see many who come up openly which leads to a healthier one. There are some who do not even care to make an follow-up comment at their boxes---i dont get their mentality---its a matter of pride or they dont want to interact with an new comer or they always want to play it safe by responding to standard ones---coz the chances for them getting deleted are less comparitively.I hate that even though they provide good responses but never care to add something the next time. one liners are often conclusive so there would be no scope to discuss until and unless you have something handy to discuss about which would be possible only with the friends and there were many cases where we have discussed topics totally different from the main one

The thing is that, to make a discussion work, it's wise to be careful with your questions. Any question starting with "Do you ...?", "Are you ... ?" &c &c. is very often capable of being answered with one word. A discussion must engage people and encourage them (nay, compel them!) to type more than just a few words. That is why you should phrase your questions carefully and use the 'WH' words (What, Where, When, Why, Who, How ...). Questions that use these words can very rarely be answered properly with only one word. In the past, many discussions which were against the Guidelines have slipped through Admin's net. I have always maintained that to keep them there sets a very bad example to newcomers because, at some point, they will come across them and say "This discussion wasn't deleted, so why was mine? MyLot is not being fair!". I believe that MyLot are currently on a mission to remedy these oversights.

I try to put thought and substance into my discussions and make them "good quality", which tends to make them rather on the long side. I have read from quite a few people that they will not read long discussions, because it takes too much time and they can respond to several short discussions in the time that it takes them to read a long one. I would rather read a long and interesting discussion that gives me things to talk about than to read a short discussion that leaves me at a loss for words and trying to come up with something to say in my response. I also try to make my responses to discussions "good quality", but it seems that I have been quite long-winded lately, which does make for a lot of reading. Perhaps that is why I have not been getting a lot of responses back on my comments. On the other hand, when I am the only responder to a discussion, I would think that the original poster of the discussion could at least read and respond to my comment, especially since it is not like they have pages of responses to wade through.

I not only read the discussion but also the responses before I decide to respond to the discussion (as you can obviously tell from my remarks above). If I find other people's responses to be interesting or I think that I can add to them, then I comment in their response box. That is part of the discussion forum, right? There are some people that like this type of interaction and encourage it. They view it as a way to keep the discussion active and interesting. I have encountered other people, though, that get angry when people do this. Sometimes the original poster thinks that you are trying to "hijack" their discussion, and other times the responder thinks that their response is directed only at the original poster and nobody else has the right to respond. It is strange how some people view a public forum that not only encourages discussions and interaction but also pays you based on your participation in said activities.

i have seen all your responses and comments PA they are infact of good quality and i enjoy going through those.sad thing is that we lost our hold on your discussion which has the longest thread i guess. @Alice its pretty common for new comers---coz they think they would make extra money if they have many posts to their credit--but as time passes by they would either leave this site or use their clever brains and hangout with their friends in their activities and then money would be the least preference i guess. @ i have seen anyone getting angry PA if we add a comment---something which adds up to their response.infact we are appreciating them that they have an good response and i dont think someone would so foolish to show anger on the ones who adds a comment at their boxes.

It all depends on my mood when I give my replies. Sometimes my brain just doesn't co-operate with me so end up given short but sweet replies. I have one recent discussion here where 90% of the responses are long and winding. It was something I took great pleasure in reading and they gave me much ideas to come up in my replies. I can be lazy at times and take a long time to reply to my responders. But I will reach out to everyone. It is usually the case with short discussions they become popular instantly and will generate much more responses compared to longer written discussions.

Amazing sense of humor! You caught me there sunnycool. Well, one liners here in mylot I guess they never gone. But to all newbies, they always ask questions about earning a bit in a day. You cannot earn in one liner answer and comment dear.. It's not worth after all If you make some discussions out of responding to their comments its useless.. When I open up discussions I see to it that I respond to their comments or feedbacks, we are here to make conversation and discuss some things we are interested in. If you want to be a member out of not doing some effort for sure you'll get bored being here. When I started 3 years ago, I was stumbled and very bored doing comments here, its because I don't know how really mylot works. But when some old friend told me here that you can earn by making a much worth, quality and inspiring discussions and comment you can get what you want. It's not just writing what you want, but what you feel. I don't even notice my earnings was getting higher until I reach the minimum payout.A big and fat message was sometimes boring to read, but the content really counts my friend. Just enjoy and express what you feel in the right way that everybody will understand you. Share what life really is, earn and learn. Keep up the good work my friend. Have a nice day!

Hi sunny, you have brought out many valid points. I am sure during the early days discussion sites were rae and people were just about beginning to get used to the whole concept and I am sure mylot is probably one of the earliest discussion sites..We have come a long way now, with people adding paragraphs and sometimes a few paragraphs of information or disinformation aas the case may be...Honestly I dont have the patience to go through a long long dicussion, but at the samr e time short non commital sentences irritate me....thye whole purpose of the discussion is lost ...A good topic for discussion , thanks a lot and all the best

Hi there! Yes, they were gone after several waves of users who believes that there is a fixed rate per post in here and they might end up from quitting because they didn't earned well from that kind of activity. They keep on posting lots of discussions a day and that will last for a week or longer, once they noticed that due to that kind of activity where they only post one line discussions or shall I say, 'thread' because it is just a one way discussion, as you have said because they don't manage to go back to their topic and reply to the responses received. I noticed some discussions before telling that they are annoyed from those kind of discussions and I posted my own where I stated that when they are annoyed with those users, try to help and teach them the proper way on how to earn here. In that way, more quality discussions will be posted instead of those one-liners which might be deleted, it can help the user to earn and as well as helping to maintain the quality of discussions by simply guiding them. Another thing is on posting comments, there are some who don't believe that we can also earn from it. But once they tried replying on the responses of their own discussion, as well as the other, they would realize how it helps to earn. Aside from that, users can enjoy interacting with others and it makes a good and interesting discussion. Have a nice day!

But the first option where to start again after learning their mistakes was a rare choice. As I noticed, most of them (those who have the habit of posting one-liners), give up and quit that's why I told to some members that if they are annoyed with that kind of activity, try to teach them in order for them to avoid quitting, instead, they will start again with a change. Yes, it could be disgusting, while some users said it was funny. There is nothing to be offended. You can visit my profile and see my discussion about avatars.

I qualify as old member I suppose. :) Honestly sunny, I really have difficulty in coming up with original discussions. :) I feel so guilty receiving those best responses! This is because I cant give any if I dont start any. :) So I come up with something, hoping they would come and then I could give one. :) Basically my discussions are too dense. :) Wish I could come up with those funny ones. I especially like Thea's, Diana's, and Lamb's discussions. Lots of humor there. :) Somethings I dont understand of course. But I add a comment here or there to get it under discussions I responded. That way I can keep track of when new comments are added, and enjoy them pulling each other's legs. :) I saw one in which you teased Lamb sunny boy. :)

Diana has always been a good host and you would get to see me in there all over and coming to lamb i'm getting to know of him more these days---screwing and commiting crimes--oh he must have been really busy with those severe and gore crimes and he might be in a sound sleep right now. Thea---i came accross some times but it would take some time i guess to start interacting with her. coming to your discussions they are pretty hard to answer and you cover all the points so so often your responders are left with small points which you must have left while yawning or drinking water lol.And you are known for your looooonger comments haha.

That's nice to know! Although I really didn't get the gist of it till someone (I think it was Lamb) mentioned Alice was taking down one-liners after explaining the reason. I'm glad they're doing something about those. I work by email and about half my notifications are for one-liners. I don't like to waste my time on those types of discussions or even the time it takes to open them and delete them. They irritate me. It's good to know there will be more quality discussions here. I like interesting posts that tell me something new about the world or the poster, or present new views, opinions or information. I don't care if someone wants to know what kind of pizza I like because I know they really aren't interested, they just want to make some money. What IS your height? Well seriously, at the beginning people were just trying out whatever. But after a while, the site sort of developed a culture, I guess you could say. Plus people started enforcing the guidelines and so on. And how many times, if you're a long timer, can you respond to a discussion about your favorite color, before you just avoid that sort of thing entirely?

My height is-----wait its the topic i'm discussing right.yeah those earlier days must have been real fun adn if i were there it all those ancestors would have been flooded with my silly but serious humourous questions and i would have enjoyed getting paid for those one liners but they do not play an great deal if it were about quality discussions. how would it be if we answer yes or no---if some one is having any problem with spouse lol.Started taking lessons now do not ask me which--what--lessons.great day.

I would much rather read and respond to the ones that are long and have substance, than those that are one liners. Those discussions, responses, and comments just don't have substance, and so hard to respond back to. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to post one liners, and a no brainer at that. I have always posted quality, and I also understand that if I don't, I won't get paid. I don't think the ones that post the one liners even realize that they don't get paid for those, as quality is better than quantity. This is a very good topic and thank you for posting it. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.
