Well, i prefer both.
Both have some advantages and disadvantages. XP supports all kind of applications and games. And for programmers who use Turbo C++ prefer XP over Windows 7 as XP supports fullscreen windows of 16-bit applications while Windows 7 didn't have any support for 16-bit applications(just like Vista).
So, i decided to keep both the operating system in my computer so that when i need to work in XP or in Windows 7, it would be available to me anytime i want.
So, my opinion is keeping both OS (dual boot).

I can't speak for windows seven because I've only seen demos of it online. However I have used XP and quite frankly I don't like it. Apparently the system was too unstable for Jaws, or with that system, and only that system, I don't know why, but seemingly with that system I suddenly would type way to fast for it and Jaws would crash. And, my typing speed while slow to some is fairly fast. over 50 words/min last time I was clocked, over seven years ago.

windows 7 is very good and works awesome than xp.But what i advise is that you just stick on to your xp for the time being. What i mean is thhat within a month or two microsoft will come with more resolved windows 7 than the current one.I am speaking from my past experience with microsoft.Every new version eventhough highly rated by thr computer geeks gets even crashed. You can obviously buy windows 7 now, if you are in a hurry.I say it is good. And 1 more thing, never go for VISTA.

better you don't choose both, both are not reliable operating system, if you want good and reliable you just choose the Linux operating system ,why I'm saying this windows is just useful Friendly, but its not reliable so you better choose Linux operating system, this is advice from my side, after that that's your wish.

For reliability i prefer Windows XP, its been proven coz its been tested for years. As for Windows 7, i noticed Windows 7 if more reliable than Windows Vista, one of its Advantage when installing drivers. Windows 7 is more stable compare to Windows Vista when running programs. As for Windows XP, almost all programs are run smoothly on it. If your in to latest games and you a Fast PC then you have to use windows 7 because soem games supports only directx 10 and up, Windows XP doesnt support DirectX 10 and up. Over all, in choosing OS will depend on the User and its Computer. Hope this will help.
